Its only a life of humiliation and depression if thats the way people treat you. If people accept you and support you, you accept yourself and move on. I've been depressed, but it was never anything to do with my sexuality. I'm confortable with my sexuality. People who have problems with their sexuality often find its based around the way people treat them, not the other way aorund.

I did not chose to be gay. Equally, now, I do not chose to try and live 'straight.'

I asked my mother once if she'd have changed me if she knew I was gay. Her response? 'Why? All I wanted was a healthy child. If they could have tested for your asperger's, I wouldn't have had that changed either.'

Gattaca is a very good film in terms of addressing issues like this.

I know most of you had rough childhoods and dont believe in the lord as I do, but gays are a menace and they are poisoning american values.

Being, or having a "rough childhood" does not someone shatter someone's faith. For me I dropped it when I realized how silly a lot of it sounded to me. Concepts of heaven and hell, Gods and Goddesses allong with moral codes that I did not entirely agree with...not because I had a "rough" childhood.

You only believe in the LORD because you had an indoctrinated childhood, where your parents and probably (sexually indecent) Priest spoon feed you religion as if it were the gospel truth.

You also must understand this country is secular and therefore must do it's best to honor both your values and the values of gay people, aethiests, and everyone else. People in this country share rights, there isn't (or shouldn't be) second class citizens in this country. I ought to be the equal of President Bush himself (whether that plays out or not is another discussion).

Why was this needed? You had a good, intelligent argument going, and you had to go and attack him in the least mature way possible. He's not going to shut up no matter what you say, but still, you made you're complete post null and void for the sake of two words.

ShadowBoxing: I've known some very nice, open minded, reasonable priests, and some atheists I wouldn't want my children anywhere near. Someone's faith doesn't define them any more than their sexual preference. You can't label a lifestyle like that.

I've always been a believer though in that we humans can't fully grasp all possible knowledge in our limited life times... just a fact of life. So no one can play the role of god and judge man kind's ultimate destiny in my mind. Maybe we will become arrogant enough to believe ourselves capable of deciding an entire people's fate like Mr. Hitler once did... history does repeat itself. LOL. But my faith is strong in that we can still be good enough to conquer such potential for evil that each one of us possesses.

My grandparents are Salvationists. My father is a die-hard athiest and my mother is a born-again goddess worshiper. You wouldn't know it to talk to any of them, they all work in the same proffession, and two of them are openly bisexual. Doesn't define them in the slightest. Its just something they do.

1)* Some men are always horny. Some women are always horny. The word "NYMPHOMANIAC" pops into mind. Why, the gender even has it's OWN word for it!
