Batcave Design Thread.

Penny. Dinosaur. Zero explanation for either. Multiple Batmobiles and other Bat vehicles. Huge. Technologically advanced. Basically, the one from the Arkham games.

The Arkham Knight Batcave. No giant penny but it does have the dinosaur.

What about a Batcave like Telltale?

The B:TAS/DCAU Batcave was always my favourite. Expansive, modern and not overstuffed. Give me something like this with the Grandfather clock entrance and I'd be happy.

We do need the grandfather clock entrance. I liked Nolan’s piano, and Burton’s aquarium for that matter, but I’d like to see the classic secret entrance done well on the big screen. Especially if they have the entry code as the time his parents died.

This should be the end goal for a Batman saga, especially when you take into consideration some for the items on display/expansiveness of his armory. Maybe in the introductory film, we only see early signs of Bruce expanding the base onto different platforms/cliffs. I think it'd be great to see him sitting at the massive computer screens in the first film, with boxes of unopened Wayne Enterprises teasing things to come.

Telltale actually got so much right in terms of my tastes for Batman...

Seriously. The Batsuit, the Batmobile, the Bat-Cave, Gotham City itself? It's all pitch perfect for what I'd want to see on the big screen in a live action Batman film across the board and also generally looks and feels just believable enough to where it's not too fantastical in a live action film either.

I really like this concept art. All previous Batcaves have felt very small and limited. I'd like something that makes the cave itself look huge. It doesn't need all the walk ways and platforms to be giant, just have the cave itself be impressive to look at.

Also, turntable for the Batmobile IS A MUST!

So much of Telltale's Batman designs are amazing. The suit, the cave, the landscape. Shame season 3 is never gonna happen :/

I hope they use Biltmore Estate to represent Wayne Manor in the film.

Personally, I'm rather tired of Baroque/Chateauesque architectural styles for Wayne Manor. I would prefer something a little more American/early 20th century, like the style used for Wayne Manor in BTAS.

I would prefer Henry Ford's Fair Lane Manor. It just screams American old money, industrial titan, in a very special way:

It even has its own Batcave, the Burroughs Grotto:

Also the interior has a lot of Gothic touches.

I mean... Biltmore Estate IS american old money lol. It's located in North Carolina and was built for a member of the Vanderbilt family in the late 19th century.

I know all of that, but it was also built earlier when the American elite was still chasing the European aristocracy. It's design very much is an attempt to mimic the great palaces of Europe. Fair Lane is a truly American design. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and his disciples in the uniquely American Prairie School style (with some nods to more traditional elements of European designs of course).

Also, the more natural setting of Fair Lane is a better fit for Wayne Manor than the highly manicured gardens and grounds of Biltmore. Fair Lane is more private and reclusive.

Dang! Frank Lloyd Wright architecture would look amazing on film.

Now I’m gonna be mad if this doesn’t happen! Thanks a lot!

Damn. Fair Lane is a great shout.

Thanks! It came to my attention when they were shooting BvS in Detroit and it has been my dream Wayne Manor ever since. The Prairie School style is also of the same era as the Art Deco designs used in BTAS and the big glass windows and other lines really remind me of Wayne Manor from BTAS in positive ways.

So now that we have a sense of the overall aesthetics of the film and his gadgetry and suit and Batmobile, how do you guys think the cave will look like?

Like a normal cave, but with bits of equipment here and there. I suspect anyone expecting anything fancy will be disappointed.

I want a Batcave that embraces the idea of him building his Batman persona in full, along with some Sherlock Holmes style messes and idiosyncrasies:

- Have the Batmobile’s area have all the kinds of lifts, chains, harnesses, and tools that you would expect to see in a garage, so you can tell that some nights he has to remove a banged up chassis for a new one.

- Have the computer be set up in a chaotic manner to suggest he’s jury rigged up the system as time’s gone on, with maybe a 3D printer and scanner making up a chunk of its mass. And I’d want a table with opened files and photos next to it, where can place down and examine physical evidence, including a microscope and CSI kits.

- An Arkham Origins style workbench, with schematics, prototypes, doohickeys, a blowtorch/welder, laser cutter, and all of it a cluttered mess you can tell is only as organized as Bruce would want it.

- And since he’s not yet progressed enough for true momentous and trophies, I’d give him a cold case room with physical evidence displayed next to the files, sketches, and just odds and ends he has attached to it - like maybe he’s got a Deadshot Rifle he’s half disassembled next to some examined slugs, a League of Assassin’s sword on display next to sketches of other enemies he’s encountered and security camera clips of the ninjas, some Holiday Killer evidence... and maybe, prominently isolated from the rest, a Joker card next to a Red Hood mask.

One thing I really would love would be a lot of evidence of Bruce having decent sketching skills, so he can draw a sketch of his suspects, or design weapons or gadgets, and allow for a vague enough look that it could be real concept art or something entirely different if it finally appears.

I think Godisawesome pretty much hit it on the head. /EndThread
