I don't think we'll be getting this anytime soon outside of flashbacks. At least not for Ben Affleck's version.

Batman's origin has been done so many times in comics, television, film, and even video games.

So I now I hand the ball to myself to you fellow fans. What is your ideal origin of the Batman? What do you think should be the origin for Batfleck?

I think elements should be taken from Mask of the Phantasm, Year One, and Earth One.

From Mask of the Phantasm I'd replace the relationship Bruce had with Andrea Beaumont with Talia al Ghul. (I've read this idea here before).

They were both in love with each other to the point that Bruce was going to abandon his budding crusade against crime. To the point where he begs his dead parents for a chance to live a normal life. And then reality knocks.

Talia leaves Gotham (unknowingly pregnant with Damien Wayne) because her father, the immortal Ra's al Ghul, formally inducts her into the League of Assassins.

With no other tethers to normalcy a broken Bruce Wayne finally takes up the fight with an unflinching conviction as Batman.

Before this bitersweet beginning to his crimefighting career, Bruce traveled the world acquiring the skills and knowledge that would make him the World's Greatest Detective.

Right after his parents' murder Alfred Pennyworth, his legal guardian and the Waynes' head of security was his first Master, primarily in Judo and Jiu-jitsu.

I'd also make the Waynes and Cobblepots family friends and by extension Bruce and Oswald.

This can serve as an explanation as to why Batman has more leeway with the Penguin (better the lesser devil you know) and allows him to operate his gun running operation out of the Iceberg Lounge & Casino on the condition that he serves as a confidential informant for GCPD's MCU.

Another little bit of world building I'd put in is making Alfred and Billy Wintergreen (Deathstroke's only friend and mentor) comrades from their SAS days.

Thoughts? Ideas? What do you think Batfleck's origin should be?

I also would like to get a flashback to this moment. [YT]N6K1qNsE9v0[/YT]

I would like it to be similar to Batman Begins, I like the idea of Ra's being his trainer.

I'm mostly curious to find out the part of his origin where he got juiced on the supersoldier serum, and gained the superhuman physical powers he showed in BvS. :p

Can we just skip all the origin and flashback nonsense and get on with the movie in the here and now. Then maybe we can get a movie that doesn't last three hours.
Who doesn't know all of this already. Why must Batman movies be made to cater to people living in caves all their lives?

I would love like a five minute montage to explain Batman's origin

I'm glad this Batman isn't a regular dude with slightly above average fighting abilities like Nolan's. He moved so slow in those movies

I could do without any more origin stories tbh. After Begins and Iron Man, they got kinda dull for me.

Whatever they showed in BvS was good enough. Focus on Batman being the world's greatest detective. Everyone and their mother knows how Batman became Batman. Similar to Spidey, we don't need to see it again.

His parents died, he became Batman.

That's his origin.

I was thinking about this while watching BB today.

I loved Ras Al Ghul training batman in BB, but I can't see bat fleck being trained by Ras.

I think you have to go with him travelling abroad, but still remaining Bruce Wayne the whole time, he realizes he needs training after his first attempt that was an utter failure, and goes to various different countries to build up his knowledge to become the best while maintaining an education at a top university. Eventually Alfred becomes a mentor about what a war on crime actually is, and what it would take, etc.

this is one most powerful scenes in batman's history. the look of alfred is what makes this scene so amazing. Not a suit, not a costume. But a transformation of Bruce into something completely different, maybe not even a men. And what he is become.

I have to agree with this. Batman's origin is very poignant and can make for emotional viewing - but we've seen it so often. Unless they're going to introduce something original (like Batman '89 did with Jack Napier being the killer) I think what we saw in BvS is fine (and I really liked the way Snyder did that, by the way). If any further parts of it need to be seen at any point - like the flashback shown in Batman: Earth One where we see Alfred's discussion with Thomas Wayne before the Waynes leave for the theatre - then they can include them as they go. But no, I don't want to see yet another full retelling for no other reason than 'Hey, let's show Batman's origin - again'.

I wouldn't be averse to covering the main origin story in the credits, preferably with a heavily stylized sequence verging on animation. If there are specific elements of his origin that are relevant for the movie's plot ( like particular parts of his training ), those can be handled with flashbacks as needed.

I think that scene is rather laughable in Alfred's reaction as it is definitely about the image, and simply put he doesn't look particularily scary in the least.

They can quickly gloss over his origins like in the opening credits as far as Bruce narrating the bit of it but also showing like a couple flashback scenes of his origin and how he came to be Batman but also fast forward to his battles with Superman, Joker & Harley, etc. before you get into the actual nitty gritty you know

When Ben inevitably moves on from being Batman one day, I'd like to see DC Films cast a younger version of his character and do a few prequels.

There have been multiple great Batman actors. Batman isn't like RDJ's Iron Man, the actor feels slightly more replaceable.

Jake Gyllenhaal would probably be my choice.

I don't want to see a lot of his origin, but I would like some allusions that acknowledge the breadth of his training. I want him to have studied with great detectives, scientists, escape artists as well as martial artists. And I really would like to set up Lady Shiva and David Cain as early rivals of Bruce during his training so we can bring them in as antagonists and introduce Cassandra.

Ra's Al Ghul is essential

Yep, I agree. Got no problem with a re-cast. Before I saw Ben in BvS I couldn't imagine anyone but Bale in the role. Now I understand the character will transcend any portrayal, no matter how good.

I was saying that I want to see more of how this Batman got to where he was character-wise at the start of MoS/BvS.

I don't think I would mind if they toss in a few flash backs here and there like they do on Arrow, showing Bruce in training and who helped train him. But not to start the movie. I want Batman being Batman for
at least the first half hour of the movie. And I centainly don't need yet another scene of the happy family blundering into the dark alley. No pearls dropping to the pavement, please. Basically nothing with Bruce
younger than 18-20 years old.

Jake Gyllenhaal as Batman
