I thought the dialogue was fine for the game. Story and dialogue is a very overrated componet of video games because the majority of players ignore it. I very much doubt that Dini was alone in the writing.

Fully agreed with everything,The dialogue that some seem to have a major problem is actually pretty accurate to much of the Bat comics mythology,Look up many comics&novels(not just'50-'70's)even by top writers and you'll find that or even more"cheesy"dialogue!!!

These are videogames based on a comicbook superhero&his world,I'd be pretty disappointed IF it didn't have any dialogue like that,Them being so"awful"is an OPINION anyway and so"Dini purposely writing awful dialogue"is pretty BS to me!!!

I think RS has actually come out and stated this doesn't fall within any lore from the Batman mythos. They don't want to be tied to any specific lore from Batmans many years of stories. I guess it could be a "spiritual" successor of sorts.
plus barbara gordon never was in the wheelchair in TAS canon, she grew up to take over from her dad in BB

I highly doubt Hill and Crocker specifically ordered Dini to write purposely awful dialogue between Catwoman and Two-Face at the beginning.:cwink:

Actually Paul Crocker had a hand in a lot of the dialogue...

Dini was story guy this time out. :cwink:

And, minus the mishandling of Strange, it was a pretty fun story for a video game.

So... yeah.

Just because it was in the comic books doesn't mean the dialogue has to be bad. Video games are becoming more of a storytelling media these days. Below average writing and voice acting should no longer be excused.

I was only half-kidding when I suggested that. :whatever:

OF COURSE no one purposely writes bad dialogue. That's just stupid. I do think they were trying their best. It doesn't necessarily mean it worked sometimes.

Interesting.

I did enjoy plenty of moments here and there. Joker was written great, as usual. Mr. Freeze was one of my favorite characters in Batman lore, and they did him justice. Even people I never cared for, like Zsasz and Calendar Man, were creepy and effective. Despite being punked out and becoming disappointing, Hugo Strange had some great lines, and his interview tapes were fun to listen to.

It still doesn't mean that there weren't some atrocious bits of dialogue here and there, and some major plot holes in the story.

I thought he did good with AA's story and he improved with AC's in my opinion.

I have to disagree. Arkham Asylum's story felt stronger because it was very focused. It was all about Joker taking over Arkham and having the time of his life. It was simple, effective, and Dini was able to make it shine. In Arkham City, Dini was forced to work on too many grounds and in the end, didn't focus much of any attention to two of the largest. He had to focus on Joker being sick, Batman being sick, Dr. Strange having control, Ra's' involvement, and all the side missions.

Now, he did the side missions excellently and the Batman/ Joker sickness story worked great, but the Dr. Strange and Ra's parts were practically thrown together last second. Protocol 10 was literally useless, Ra's never came off as the mastermind type, (even though he clearly is.) and Dr. Strange was completely pathetic. I can't really blame Dini too much for that, though. Rocksteady obviously included Joker because everyone likes Joker and probably told him to focus strongly on his side of the story. (Some Dini probably didn't have to struggle with since he writes an excellent Joker.) It may seem like I'm bashing the game's story, but I'm not. I did quite enjoy it. I just feel like they both falsely advertised the focus on Dr. Strange, and misused Ra's potential.

So there. :oldrazz:

I'm a bit confused with this new Harley quinn dlc. Is it actually new story gameplay? and also would you have to have had purchased the robin/nightwing dlcs?

Yes it's a story Dlc and no I'm not sure if you need the robin/nightwing bundle.

The story was fine in Arkham City (though it could've added more content to Strange), I just prefer Arkham Asylum's story more because it had that level of fear when you are exploring the ins and outs of Arkham as you try to secure Arkham.

Gameplay wise? Arkham City beats Asylum by a mile.

Completely agreed. Despite my essay above about the story's flaws, I still enjoyed it and it doesn't detract for the amazing gameplay that Arkham City featured.

Gameplay/Feel wise wise arkham city was more epic adventure. Asylum however had more of that suspense thriller vibe with its dark claustrophobic hallways and just the feel of the surroundings.

I wish Hideo Kojima made a Detective Batman game similar to Snatcher.

Has anyone else noticed the Harley DLC trophies appear on their arkham city trophy list? I just noticed that they're on my console. What's up with that?

The GoTY is $50. Thats already been revealed via retailer preorder pages

Is that additional disc of content just the 360? I hope everything is on one disc for the PS3

Well it's nice to see she didn't blatantly confirm it's the last DLC. So there's some hope there. A game like this could easily have two or three more small story DLCs.

I wonder will they have switch points for Robin, like they have for Catwoman.

I don't think it will have more story DLC's. The description for Harley's Revenge says that it'll be the final challenge and that we'll close AC forever.

If there are more DLC's, it must be challenge maps.

How come nobody ever asks "When will we get BB & TDK movie skins"??? :o

Or more costumes. :csad:
