Batman: Arkham City - Part 5

Batman '89 is terrible. No movie where Batman uses explosives to destroy a factory and murder ever one inside should be considered good.

Well, I still enjoy it. Let's not forget, in the first comics Batman actually used to kill.

Yeah, but didn't Burton actually say he never read a comic... only one he was about half inspired by was The Dark Knight Returns...

I remember Kevin Smith (who I'm not a big fan of either) grilled Burton on that and said "What inspired you for the movie" and Burton said something about not reading the comics and Smith said "Oh, that explains your Batman movies then..."

Yes but for the overwhelming majority of his existence he does not kill people. There are other problems I have with that movie though. Keaton wasn't that great as Batman, none of the actors except Nicholson really stood out.

I remember hating that part too. I was like "....Um... So everyone inside burns alive and Batman is ok with it?"

I wasn't even very old in 89 (around 7 I believe) but I loved me my Batman comics. The only "perfect" Batman, to me... is comic Batman. I love Begins and TDK.. I could do with "less realism" but it's not a huge issue with me. They'll probably be the best Batman films we get in a long time, Nolan's filmverse that is.

I hope I'm wrong, more so if he IS done after TDKR.

Yeah, but Batman started off as a Shadow ripoff before becoming his own character and taking inspiration on the new genre: Superhero comics.

I didn't mind Batman murdering, it showed how damaged this nutcase was, what did trouble me however was how Gotham deemed him as a hero and didn't bother getting the Army to assist them, i mean who honestly wants a rich nutcase over an army, or even beter: Keep them both. :oldrazz:

Keaton's size and physical build doesn't work with me either, but did he give a great performance? Absolutely, his voice, his mannerism and the way he showed how totallylost Bruce was, i mean arguebly there was no Bruce Wayne here until Vicky Vale started bringing that human part out, and that i loved.

I'm pretty sure the cut scenes in arkham were pre-rendered, so how would the new skins play into this for main gameplay?

I still like Batman 89 I watched some of it on AMC the other night and thats one of my favorite Batman suit of all time. I like the BB suit too but it lacks in color and the TDK suit lacks in color and just way to busy looking.

ROFL!

Kevin Smith said that? That's hilarious.

It's funny he said that. Because he referenced the 89 movie in Mallrats.

Yes he did. I really need to find it... I busted out laughing. One of the few times I laugh at something Smith says.

The best scene in the Burton movies was this in Batman Returns..

Oh I said I'm not a fan of Smith, he's very "flip floppy". He'll say he hates something and then, like you said, reference that same thing in a good way.

Maybe he meant it as a sarastic joke. Who knows...

God what a great scene. I need to get Returns on Blu Ray, iv got 89 in blu, no reason not to own returns

I just rewatched the Burton Batman films. Yes, they aren't perfect. But I still love them. Some aspects of those films I even prefer over the Nolan films ( and I love the Nolan films, too ).

Then you probably have a problem with Batman not saving and ultimately killing Ra's al Ghul in BB?

I thought it was funny in Batman Begins where Bruce is trying to tell Liam that the murderer deserves a trial (and it is revealed that Bruce is to lead the League of Shadows into Gotham) he just throws a candle onto a pile of explosives leading to the (offscreen) death of potentially dozens of people.

I didn't like that either. The only time I ever thought it was acceptable for Batman to have killed was Harvey in TDK, even then it was avoidable. Bruce in Begins may have killed people, but Burton's Batman just straight murders people left right and centre.

My stance on it is it doesn't really matter if he did kill people or not. Anyways, how about some Arkham City, please?
