Batman: Arkham Knight

My only concern is that the new rumour doesn't sound like a true departure from the typical Arkham formula. The series needs that now.

I'm all for an Origins sequel, but with the supposed state WBM is in at the moment, it would be best to keep expectations low.

Is it weird at all that Origins seems to be out of the "official" Arkham series cannon? at least per Rocksteady it seems.

If there is an Origins sequel should it now be seen as a totally separate universe from the Rocksteady games world?

Sefton Hill said it was canon, there were references in Knight.

Beyond was a one and done deal set in Timm universe. Terry has never been much of an entity in the actual canon and the larger DC universe history or even Batman history.

It's canon, but I wouldn't mind if it was it's own continuity. WBM had to ruin their great version of Bane towards the end of the game so that it would fit with the one presented in AA and AC.

It's technically canon I suppose but it seems like Rocksteady considers their Batman saga to go from Asylum to Knight. Didn't seem to be any references to Origins in Knight unless I missed them?

I think Origins Batman could work better perhaps outside of dealing with any continuity to the Rocksteady games.

References to Firefly and Deathstroke via Origins in Knight.

Yeah I got this list from Reddit, there are a lot of them

Hover for Militia boss spoiler Deathstroke has the same design in Knight as they do in Origins

Firefly often says "You won't stop me again!" and "I'll get you back for leaving me on that bridge!" during Gotham on Fire side missions

The southern part of Arkham City (the extension present during Origins) can be seen, although not as clear as the North end (because it's further away)

In the GCPD evidence room, you can hear Cash talk about evidence from previous villains - including Black Mask, and how it turned out he was Joker

Thugs reference how Anarky would love what's happening in Gotham

Anarky's mask is in GCPD evidence room

Electrocutioner's gloves are in GCPD evidence room. Cash's voice over mentions how Batman handed them in after he was done using them

Random thugs can be heard saying the event of Arkham Knight is their favourite riot, and they've been in every riot since Blackgate

One riddle mentions that Batman visited/confronted Joker at the newly opened Arkham Asylum, shortly after Blackgate

The detective mode from Arkham Origins reappears in Arkham Knight

After taking out some militia watch towers when Deathstroke takes over, he says "I almost had you on that ship!" referring to where their boss fight took place in Origins.

There were quite a few.

we told and showed all that in this very thread. it was show by sefton hill him self on e3 with morgan webb formerly of x play .

it was all in the police station where all the confiscated criminal gear was held in. he made it clear on video there were tons of reference there. and I don't feel digging that video up since it was so long ago. since this thread was so busy even then too and you might missed it cause other keep talking here, ot
s forum it's supposed to be that busy.

you ether see it or you didn't. its on youtube hit up e3 morgan webb and sefton hill on arrkham knight pre before arkham knight release.

ok now if I remember correctly they continued batman beyond with in JLU the animated series

and it showed terry as older like some time just after college and he finally picked up detective skills
and after that ended sometime later when the new 52 was happening the series was rebooted in comic book form, show casing terry in his adult years. the new 52vwas failure but that serieso f bat man beyond seemed to be doing well on its own in comic book form and I was seeing it in the solocations alot. where his costume was redesigned a bit . so terry's an adult bat man fully and it they wwere talking about game of that and he's more then on hit wounder.

and the whole batman beyond game was talked when a poster I think he went by dark lord put it up from the leef live twitch channel and both the producer from WBI who was over seeing wb Montreal and the actor playing joker who's of both resident evil and played Joel in The Last Of Us video game fame, asked if we wanted a night wing and batman beyond game and fans wanted both those . this was prior to origins coming out . and before we all knew arkham knight was thing. it's been a thing since with most fan base's across the web.

most people want to see a batman beyond game with terry and in his current state the comics have been showing , he hasn't been in highschool for years,. so that period is over.

But to jump straight from Arkham Knight to the distant future where Damian is already an adult? Having not been mentioned once in any of the prior games?

Might be a hard pill for casual players to swallow. But I suppose a lot of that boils down to execution.

Once again, that didn't stop Rocksteady from bringing in Jason Todd out of thin air.

I think the who mistake was made by WBI thinking one random mention of his name as ester egg in the first origins game was enough where rocksteady brough him in knight. this is why origin's should have been full series of games it's self too and we might get that now. late that it is .

But alot can be told there where arkham origins is involved as lead up b tood and how tim drake got into the picture as well to lead into Damian while Tim Drake be comes Red Robin .

And maybe we'll finally get to see huntress and bara create the birds of prey with black canary thelatter of whcih is from gotham . alot can be done with origins

The Jason Todd "references" were from Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. Two that could've been easily missed, too.

I was talking inthe multiplayer where joker said it randomly to the players goading them as bat man. but yes there are other reference in those games you mentioned as well. I for got about those.

well the problem is that to certain people those are meaningless regardless. but they happened and while most of WBI thought that was enough for certain fans cause see fan make big deal about ester eggs be it shows or games . that wasn't enough justification for some some where jason was involved and it came out random to them story wise .

most of us agree on that. Sadly it's done and too late in the sense of what's done is done. and the only thing that can be done now to fix it of sorts is to to do fill in the blanks.
Cause there no way to do it the proper way now that they've done what they did, cause they didn't think that it was important to tell the story in the liner way ,sense wise .

so use origins to fill in the blanks and add in what ever new things. but with it not messing up what was there already. so they better look back at the past games and not be lazy about it . it easy to do that with this so there no excuse. there should be any weird conflicting things with the lead ups.

yep that why said it's in the police station where all the confiscated criminal gear is held . it is in deed the evidence room in the po9lice station where your locking up allthe criminals / bat man rogues from arkham in that same police station.

DC started to revive Batman Beyond in 2010. the comics were set in DCAU and were fairly well received but overall they flew under the radar. Then DC tried to bring more prominence to the franchise by integrating it with the mainstream continuity but...well it was a huge clusterfc*k that did more harm than good. They've been trying again with Rebirth but sales aren't looking so good. I loved BB but the concept has struggled since the tv show, it hasn't transcended the medium it was created for. Sure fanboys like us love it but that property isn't hot anymore. Unless Timm and Dini return for a new season or comic I dont ever see it getting reborn. It is famous enough for DC to milk it but not enough to invest.

Its a cash cow, Damian is hot these days, he's a star

The timeline of the Arkham series is seriously messed up and you can feel in Origins that the wish to make it match where Asylum started, hurt the game a bit imo(Bane for example was so great in the beginning, but they had to make him into the one that is the Asylum/city version)

Origins is considered Canon from what i gather...but who knows where this goes and all.

I would love for the Origins series to go its own way, but i was in general one who thought it would be a good idea for WBM to start a new Batman franchise in the first place.

well they just have push batman beyond the way they are with the animated movies . Damian has been showing up alot via the animated movies . And that's why he's known these days next to games fallowing suit now.

So they need to do the same with batman beyond, as to book we know hy they are failing there aren't enough out lets any more like comic stores, it;s like how video went out the door thanks to block buster stores.

unless come store make resurgence they won't be make due and there also the weird mistake alot of comic maker have been doing with event to try make up fo the sales decline there some good stories but there alot of weird gimmick event and or just plain crazy event tick off most of the fan base that does stay with and then that goes, ok you killed my fave character in an un cool way his enemies are still alive and you sent him / her to the grave in that IO can't stand him/her any more to a degree oh your pushing there's re placement. but I was attached the former one I'm done

there alot to sort out in the comic's industry right now but what they can fix and thy know what works is in the animated side. I don't why the writers there are more stable compared to the one doing the books currently and some certain peopled doing the live tv version and movies but those other section better start taking some lesson form the animated writers section cause especially where dc is involved .

minus that bad part with Barbra in the killing joke animated movies where she went after Bruce when she was still with dick grayson.

it seem the writers on the animated side have better understanding of what works. or should work. when the the other sections fallow suit it turn out well for them as well. So they really should look into that.

truth be told they need to put more game show caseing the broader comic of both d and marvel not just overly select view .

they did that with bane cause they made it clear that the only reason origins was originally made was to keep the fan base that was complaining about wanting another installment fallowing arkham city screaming at them busy.

And some dev from rock steady make their foolish mistake of saying there wasn't any plans for a fallow up to city prior . which the fans on the web went bat **** over them saying that.

it was made to keep people from fan base busy and they didn't know if it would go further as series game wise. it had a short dev time cycle cause arkham knight was indeed being made too.

So due to all this and them not thinking they have full series of games frchies wise, they had to show how bane got hooked on the venom as he did in the game and what known of him in the books prior. it's only here and certain places I ever see fans complain about this part abvout bane and have re explain it show those pod cats and I don't feel dragging those up again .

when it not that hard to know what happened there. those of us on the hype that fallowed the development of WBM and their pod casts with both EPN.tv and Game infomer. which showed what went wrong.

And they weren't given the same latitude rocsteady had to ask to push back the game cause the game needed more polish cause WBI wanted them to stick to a dead line. so they announced what Rocksteady pretended didn't exist formerly. that there was indeed a fallow up to arkham city. origins was made to stop the fan base from being overly impatient and there far too many people with this problem these days that made noise .

But man I wish that dev didn't start that crap.
