Well what's stopping Gyllenhaal from having stubble or a short beard in the role? I thought people were over the "clean-shaven Batman" look anyway. I seem to recall that being a big positive for fans with Affleck's Batman.
What is this? A fan cast for 10 year old Bruce?

]I think one of the things that interests me about Gyllenhall in the part is that he can do ugly.[/B]
The mans a good looking dude, and can carry of the matinee idol routine, but his past performances show he can go to very ugly, nasty places in his roles, both physically and mentally. This, I think, is very important for a convincing live action performance of Batman.
The same was true for Bale.
Affleck has never struck me as an actor who can do ugly. This was always the doubt for me when he was cast. Hes a square-chinned Hollywood icon, but his body of work have never given me the impression he could embody Batmans darkness of character properly.
I think you need an actor who can play villains as well as heroes to play Batman.
He'll make a good batman. That's the point this is a batman when he first started, so he has got to be young. He can't be old and beat up like Ben Affleck.
Doesn't sound like that's what they're going for, and if it were i'd be EXTREMELY disappointed. We had 3 movies of "early years Batman" and i'd like to move passed that.

He'll always be Bubble Boy to me.
that's quite peculiar after roles like Brokeback Mountain and Nightcrawler and Prince of Persia

I love this post. This, so much this. Affleck isnt a bad actor but hes so dull as Batman because he doesnt have the edge that the role requires. Or if he does, Snyder sure as hell cant bring it out in him. Affleck might be good at playing an A-hole (like he did in Mallrats and Dazed & Confused) but hes never really gone dark like Jake and Bale have.
Yet people act like hes the best Batman EVAR because of his costume and one scene where his stunt double threw 2,000-pound crates through the air in a warehouse.

Apparently Jon Hamm is going hard after the role
