Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 2

There's been a lot of batman movies. A ton more to come in the next 100 plus years. I don't care about the actor fitting the role anymore. Give me an interesting actor and let's see what happens. That's all i want. Jake gets my vote for that reason. Let's do it. No more Ben Affleck's, Armie Hammer's, Luke Evans. Not interested in seeing that.

at this point I am ready to see any and all portrayals, just as long as they have credible and celebrated talent behind them. Oscar Issac as Batman, for example as others have mentioned, would probably kick ass. Jake G is pretty damn great and even has the basics down in terms of how the prototypical Bruce Wayne would look.

And for the record, I am absolutely done with wanting certain moments or visuals come to life with little to no substance behind them over quality story and character development. Are they cool to look at for about a minute? Yeah, but there isn't much else left after that, and it leaves a lot left to be desired. I used to be a huge traditionalist, but these last few years showed me that it can only go so far if you have someone in charge who just doesn't see the big picture, storytelling wise.

I used to be a big believer in authenticity and staying extremely true to the material, but if a guy like Denis Villeneuve or another top notch talent has a take, you let them do it.

I would do just about anything to see Villeneuve take over a sequel with Gyllenhaal.

Denis mentioned he was offered a CBM before Blade Runner, I have to believe Batman was at the top of that list. Maybe next time he’ll be reinvigorated after Reeve (hopefully) puts some much-needed credibility back into the franchise.

Ehh, much as I love Villeneuve, I'd take a Reeves movie over his anyday.

You're going to want something able to resonate with the average public too, Matt seems to have more of that balance at play between the dark & indie feel and the "not too out there for Joe & Jane moviegover either". Sort of a line Nolan walked well too.

Denis would probably have the same issues as Aronofsky, just taking stuff too far, becoming a little too impalatable.

Ben Barnes?

Benjamin Walker

Villeneuve is on a roll as far as i'm concerned, and one of my favorite working directors. I don't care much for Reeves outside of the fun Cloverfield and his Let Me In remake. I personally don't care about the average public. Give me something psychological and different. I see what you're saying, and that's where it's headed. But i don't care about all of that when i'm watching a movie. I only care about my taste while i'm watching something.

Wasn't Arrival a bonafide hit? People shouldn't use Blade Runner as the defining example of how Denis will be as a filmmaker. He quite intentionally made the film laborious, romantic, and drawn out. Because it's Blade Runner.

Nah Walker should be Superman if he plays anyone. He would be a fine Superman

Yeah, Walker’s a dead ringer for Frank Quitely‘s Superman.

Benjamin Walker is Superman or nobody.

He played Patrick Bateman onstage.

I've only see the 2 Planet of the Apes films he's done, but why are so many either very pro or anti- Reeves for this film? I haven't seen enough of his work to be anything other than neutral.
