Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 2

I like Cooper, but I don't really buy him as Batman/Bruce, based on just looking at him.

As for Jon Hamm's physique? I feel size wise, him as Don Draper is actually perfectly fine as Batman. Just make him more ripped but around the same size as he was when he played Draper. Then you've got a pretty good Batman physique.

Also, I don't really trust actors being "not interested" in superhero roles. Going back to my Ledger analogy, Ledger also turned down playing Batman in Batman Begins for that exact reason. One movie later and he was on board as Joker.

It won't be Hamm. They should have hired him years ago, but he missed his boat. Fine actor but just isn't the direction they seemingly discuss going in.

I see it's either Jake G or a rising/unknown (late 20's actor).

Jake has the right talent and fame. He's a good height for the role and has shown he gets physical for the right films. Only 37 but if he shaves, he can pull off 10 years younger

I kinda wonder as a laugh if say around 1995's Batman Forever, were Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise ever considered for the role before they went with Val Kilmer?

I remember reading Cruise was up for Iron Man in the early 2000's.

Apparently they where looking at Daniel Day-Lewis, Ralph Fiennes, William Baldwin and Johnny Depp. Ethan Hawke turned them down.

Daniel Day Lewis would have literally became Batman and stalked the streets at night in a batsuit in order to prep and to stay in character.

To be fair I do think if I was fan casting a Batman movie the 1980s/1990s, I'd probably want Alec Baldwin. He was absolutely superb as the Shadow.

I think the inspired choice for Batman Forever would have been... Jim Carrey. He's got the same Keaton quality of underlying darkness and sad eyes, someone who's just crazy enough to dress like a giant bat. Schumacher probably wouldn't have been the right director for it, but who knows?

Hawke would have been 24 around the time of casting of Batman Forever. He'd have been considered for Robin.

Wow, Depp?

Seems always so many short actors shortlisted for the role

Wasn’t Sam Raimi considered to replace Burton at one point? I’d love to see that. Bruce Campbell as Batman? Riddler? Two-Face? All of them?

I wanna say I'd want this, but at the same time we'd miss out on Carrey literally carrying Batman Forever in his ridiculous glory as Riddler.

Really wish we would get some level of confirmation about all this.

By summertime hopefully.

Certainly feels like we should’ve gotten some... really any kind of news at this point.

Would certainly like something before summer.

Summertime, I'll accept if that's when we get confirmation on someone new. If I have to wait until Summer to hear whether Affleck is in or out, someone's getting slapped.

You just know that they aren’t gonna do that. They’re gonna want the new actor’s casting to come shortly if not immediately after Affleck’s departure announcement.

They’ve already had enough bad press for these DCEU movies, at least they’ll be able to say “we lost Ben, but hey we got Jake Gyllenhaal instead!” right away.

What about a block of wood with a picture of Clint Eastwood's face tapped to it?

Eastwood... Carrey... Baldwin... Some Indian guy up there...

Stop.

How can you not think Baldwin would’ve been a good Batman?
