Fans need to let that angle go, at least for cinema. The brand is too big to go small now.

It can still be cerebral and slowly paced at times, but audiences are going out to theaters to watch Batman on a large-scale. Spectacle is a must.

Let alone an entire Batman trilogy and probably a few JL films. They need someone who’s in this for the next 10-15 years

I want spectacle with the cerebral touch. I want villains that are fantastical and ruthless. Give me the batfamily, freeze, ra's with the actual Lazarus pit, clay face, poison ivy, bane with venom. I need all of that but not in a campy fashion. Make it dark and driven like the comics and video games.

I’d be happy with just two Gyllenhaal/Reeves movies. Then get a different guy for Justice League if they make more of those

Then perhaps you go with a younger actor at least someone in their early 30s and then build around them for the next decade

Because by then they would be in their 40s which would still be believable for them to play Batman

He's auditioned for the role already and throughout his career has tried to nab a franchise of his own. I don't think it's too far-fetched with the right director, he's willing to go on that long-term ride with perhaps the most prestigious superhero role there is.

Yeah but then there is the age and longevity aspect too because he's already 36-37 so for like the next decade all the way up to 47 is not that realistic but maybe I'm wrong

I'd wager that he would. Every 2/3 years.

He's gunning for an Oscar and always does small films so this could be the most commercial film he's ever made (besides Prince of Persia/Day After Tomorrow).

He's never been a show me the money guy, so we wouldn't worry about production being delayed over greed.

He's a good age. Only 37. Could easily look younger if he shaves. Good physical shape. (Southpaw showed this as well as Prince of Persia). 5'11. Sure we lucked in with a 6'2 Batman recently, but 5'11 ain't so bad. One of the best actors of his generation. Check out his films like Enemy or Nightcrawler and Prisoners.

And he's an A-lister that people trust. You know he's gonna deliver in a role.And that you're not wasting $10 on a crappy film.

That is true I have to give Gyllenhaal that he is not a show me the money type like certain DC and Marvel actors so for that I can give him credit

If Reeves can pull it off and snag Gyllenhaal for the DCEU before Marvel snags him up because Marvel could very well reach out to him especially considering they have the rights to X-Men and or Fantastic Four they could reach out to Gyllenhaal to play Reed Richards or even a character in the X-Men universe

So if DC is smart they would grab him for Batman before Marvel does

Besides, height can easily be extended by a couple of inches via the boots. Not only that, but the height difference between Batman and Superman would be comic accurate if Jake gets the role anyway (with Supes being 6'3 in comics/Cavill being 6'1 and Bats being 6'2/Jake being 6'0 with a slight height extension via the shoes)

I can't see Affleck coming back. I wish somebody involved would say something so we can move forward one way or another.

Yeah I too think Affleck is done so why keep us all in limbo?

Because the movie isn't greenlit yet. If Affleck's departing, they'll likely package that announcement with the new actor's casting. And they're not going to cast the part until there's a script in place and pre-production is good to go.

I just hope they keep the budget at around $200 million or so. And have many elements of the cerebral.

I just don't see him signing on without a completed script to look at. For all he knows, The Batman could be the next BVS.

A prestige actor like Gyllenhaal isn't going to sign on until he knows the role is worth his time
