Whoever suggested Penn Badgley as Bruce Wayne/Batman I could go for that

Anyone watch Man in the High Castle?

I don't myself, but he's got a good look. I vaguely recall his POI episodes, and I thought he did good work.

Best new suggestion so far. Also, Man in the High Castle is great.

I'll throw Christopher Abbott's name back into the hat.

No thanks. Too much of a pretty boy.

Any one of these heroes in their late-20s, early-30s would look like pretty boys. At least with Bruce it fits the mold of sought after billionaire playboy.

And hey, I just looked the guy up and he's also highly athletic. Always a plus.

I'm down for a complete unknown. Superman had the luxury of casting wide nets, don't see why Batman can't get the same treatment.

If the guy can act I don't think his looks are a huge problem. Bruce is supposed to be an attractive guy.

Don't see Jaime Bell as the character. Just doesn't look right to me.

He looks like a mixture of Hugh Dancy and Zach Woods.

Regarding ‘pretty boy(s)’- two of my favorite superhero performances are Christopher Reeve as Superman and Chris Evans as Captain America. Both guys are so blandly handsome that they looked like they stepped out of a JC Penney catalog, but they had a charismatic presence that engaged audiences.

Bruce Wayne probably should look like an insubstantial pretty boy- it helps with the secret identity.

Cast a ‘pretty boy’ without that charm, however, and you’re dead (George Lazenby as Bond, Taylor Kitsch as John Carter).

Bale, Affleck, Clooney, Kilmer where all pretty boys. I don't see any big deal there.

What about Jonathan Groff for Batman?

He looks the part, he has potential. He's lean and muscular already, and his work in Mindhunter was awesome, he's shown to be a very corporal and subtle actor in that performance, which would be exactly needed for Batman.

And whatever the hell he did in Glee would probably be useful for the Bruce Wayne playboy persona.

The only problem is the age, 33, but he does appear younger. He's not too tall but not too short either, he's the same height as Michael Fassbender who doesn't look small in any movie at all.

Didn't finish Mindhunter but I would be willing to give him a shot.

Another plus for Groff is that if he can work with Fincher as the protagonist of an entire show he can probably work with Reeves as the protagonist of an entire franchise.

One thing I will say about Groff is that he doesn't really look, "intense" enough? If that makes sense? Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck all of this "edge" to their looks. But if Groff were to be cast I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, looking at his Instagram profile he's pretty much what a young Playboy Bruce Wayne would be like (showing off how attractive he is, his luxuries, being around models, etc.) If he can act I don't see why not.

I think Groff is the more obvious and, in my opinion, better pick for Dent/Two-Face rather than Batman. He doesn’t the have correct... “edge.” He’s got one, I think he demonstrated that in Mindhunter, but it’s a nervous kind of quality that switches back and forth with his boyish looks.

I think that, since we're looking at really young actors with an unstablished track record, the reason I'd pick Groff for Batman is more of the range he's shown so far than the "edge" he's shown in one particular role, ya' know? You can't really typecast these young actors, you kinda have to look at their range.

He went from being a pretty boy in Glee to being a very nuanced, complex but charismatic character in Mindhunter, and being really great in the process. If he works out that range, and instead of using his acting skills to portray "nervy", use them to portray "intimidating, calculated, intelligent, melancholict" I could see how he might be able to pull off Batman.

And his "nervy" qualities would maybe work for Batman if he manages to balance them, especially for a version like the one Reeves is gonna present that's at the very start of his career, in those stories Bruce always tends to have a vulnerable side to him.

In Mindhunter he plays a character that's prepared but stepping unto uncharted territory that makes him vulnerable, in the case of Bruce Wayne facing off against his greatest enemies for the first time that'd be the same.

I’m not disqualifying him either. I just don’t think he’d bring the kind of intensity I want in the next Batman. It may sound odd but I do want someone crazier. After the imposing embodiments of righteousness that Bale and Affleck played, I’d want someone who would make you believe that dressing up like a bat and beating up criminals is this guy’s only method of therapy.

For that I’d still champion the aforementioned Robert Pattinson or the less likely but just as capable Adam Driver.

Sorry, but I don’t find Affleck intense at all. He certainly doesn’t have the fire behind his eyes that Bale and Keaton did. His head looks like a half-asleep cardboard box.
