Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 4

I just found this guy that I've never seen in any movie but fits the mold so I'm just gonna throw it out there since it's a possibility: Sam Claffin.

He'd have to bulk up even for "ninja" but otherwise he's okay in terms of his looks, I don't really have any complaints.

You have never seen The Hunger Games movies? I am not sure if it will be Batman but , I can definitely see a superhero role in his future. He was quite toned for HG as Finnick .

I've only seen Abbott in It Comes At Night. He was good in that film, but I'm seeing the Batman potential way more in the trailer for Sweet Virginia. Kinda reminds me of Oscar Isaac acting wise.

Definitely dig this suggestion.

Check out The Sinner too; it’s now on Netflix. Jessica Biel and Bill Pullman have the biggest roles on the show, but Abbott puts in some solid work too, as does that guy who played Tim on Justified.

Guess Mark Hughes has some Batman related articles coming next week, specifically mentions casting possibilities. Hoping they're legitimate short-list rumors and not just his "here's who might end up on the short list based on what I'm hearing."

Knowing Mark Hughes it will definitely be speculation. Don't hold your breath.

WB works in circles

Henry Cavill was on shortlists for Superman before MOS
Ben Affleck was asked to star in and direct Justice League before Snyder stepped in
Bale was Aronofsky’s first pick for Year One, also on Wolfgang Peterson’s shortlist for BVS
Armie Hammer was straight up cast as Batman in Justice League Mortal, Id bet on him being our guy

Joaquin, actually.

As far as an older Bruce my picks are as follows if they decide to keep it within an older Affleck-aged Batman then:

Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Josh Duhamel, Jason Clarke, Karl Urban, Michael Fassbender, Jon Hamm, Oscar Isaac, Ryan Philippe

Now for a younger Batman my picks:

Armie Hammer
Ryan Guzman
Richard Madden of Game of Thrones
Nicholas Hoult of X-Men & Mad Max Fury Road fame
Tyler Hoechlin
Hunter Parrish

It'll be Hoechlin. Affleck "played" George Reeves/Superman in Hollywoodland and then Hoechlin played Superman on Supergirl :hehe:

Hoechlin even though he plays Superman on Supergirl that is an entirely different universe altogether and it has no bearing at all whatsoever in the DCEU well Worlds of DC. However, that being said he has to be considered a favorite to play Bruce assuming they go younger on Bruce.

If they keep him older then who you gonna go with?

I'd highly suggest that, if you have a personal fancast choice for Bruce that's not in many fancast lists (as most of the names we've thrown around here are such as Jonathan Groff, Christopher Abbott, Garret Hedlund, Luke Kleintank, Jeremy Irvine) to tweet them at Matt Reeves. Hollywood directors obviously don't know every name out there in the industry so you'd be surprised at how many executives and filmmakers sometimes lurk around seeing fan lists or fan suggestions to get some ideas, like what famously happened with Joe Manganiello.

If you want pages upon pages of useless info, Mark Hughes is your guy.

Heck, **** it, if you want to you can even tweet him this thread so maybe if enough of us do it enough times there's a chance he might end up checking it out and one of us might end up lucky. This is by far the most complete fancast discussion I've seen in the internet, so maybe he'll get something of value and one of us our dream fancast.

Matt Reeves; if you're reading this, Wes Bentley would make a great Batman.

Matt Reeves; if you're reading this, please make the BatHammer a thing! Easiest transition out of the Batfleck era without completely forsaking continuity!

Kinda over it.

Just give it to some 25 year old unknown-to-rising-star

If he's 6 feet, perfect.

Athletic and can do his own fight choreography too. It still bugs me every time I watch Batfleck in action because it's obvious his stuntman is doing all the work.

As much as I hate Nolan's fight choreo, I always appreciated not ever being able to tell when Bale was swapped out.

How about Matt Lauria? I've only seen him in the TV show Kingdom, but he was really good in that. His character could get really intense and always had an underlying darkness to him that would suit Bruce Wayne. He was also believable as a MMA fighter.

35. Too old, Jake Gyllenhaal is out because he's 37.

For a prequel Batman in his late 20's/early 30's:

I don't really have a favorite for the role, but other than Armie Hammer (which isn't very imaginative, although I think he would slay it from what I've seen of him), I think my vote is for Nicholas Hoult for a young Bruce/Batman. He's young looking, passes as an adorable orphan rich kid which would make him seem like a softy and lovable public figure as bruce, but has those intense, ultra intelligent blue eyes and is 6'3" and has an edge about him that I could so see being the super dark flip side of his public persona. He's a name, but not a huge name, and he's got the physicality for the role. Could be great for a Batman who has been working for a couple years, so we don't get a boring origin, but do get an awesome noir detective thriller with an endearing lead. He's got it in him to be the primary lead in a POV-driven Batman flick for sure. Looks like the kind of guy who still really relies on an Alfred.
