Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 4

My only real problem with Bentley is his voice, but I like to believe that can be improved upon.

He's one of my top choices, but his age might work against him if Reeves is looking to cast under 30.
Nowadays you can de-age using CGI (and makeup). Making a 40 year old look like a 28 year old shouldn't be a problem.

A 5'7 guy cant be Bruce. Though, Nolan had 5'7 Cillian Murphy shortlisted for Bruce in Batman Begins.

id say the shortest an actor can be is 5'11. Affleck looked huge and he is only 6'2. Surely there are worthy ft tall unknown/rising thespians who would welcome the role.

that being said; why exactly did they cast Affleck to begin with? Was there no one else? I get his Oscar win for Argo had given him loads of positive press and he was filming Gone Girl.

I suppose WB wanted him because he was expected to direct the solo Batman movie.

I've never been crazy about de-aging technology (although I must admit that Marvel worked wonders with Sam Jackson in the upcoming Captain Marvel). Honestly, though, Bentley wouldn't even need that. Give or take a few grey hairs, he still looks the same as he did circa 2015-2016. Come to think of it, his face is even fuller now.

Right, they were hoping for that one-two punch of acting and directing. With how much they were meddling, I'm really not surprised he backed out of committing. Disappointed, but not surprised.

More young names. We need more young names of attractive actors that could be Batman.

Once i said this guy but someone told me i hated Bats lol :o
But i still think he can do it, he's ‎6'3 i think it covers everyone's height expectations

Either way, he could aslo be Nightwing :o

No idea who he is, but that middle gif reminds me a little of Cavill, which is good, imo. I always loved the in-joke of Clark and Bruce looking similar.

He's the brother of Alexandra Daddario, he's been in small films like 36 saints and Cabin Fever and Shadowhunters on Netflix, his wife is not an actress/famous so it's not like he's in the media and paparazzi's eye that much

Plus, i just saw in his wiki that he won some Teen Choice Award in 2017, so he has the teens on his side, another Billion for Bats :o

Can he act?

I would say average but it's not like he's been in a big project to really judge

I also don't know what is the range or portrayal of the character your expecting, here some random vids made probably by some teen girls fans

What about an Asian Batman? He could be an adopted child of the Waynes. As they are killed, he goes East to search for his roots and find out more about his birth parents. He learns eventually that his father is none other than Ras-Al-Ghul and his mother is Lady Shiva. They both want to wreck Gotham and restart things anew.

The emotional weight of such a story would be striking, controversial and divisive which is the direction this film needs to go to truly succeed. We would have never seen a Bruce with that type of conflict. He lost one set of parents and now he must make the hard choice to fight against his birth parents and lose them or turn to the darkness and embrace them so he finally has a Mum and Pop

Batman being the son of Ra's Al Ghul is a horrible idea.

Well.. I do like her. Alexandra Daddario for genderbent Batman it is then. :o

Thats what confused me. Why were they so adamant on him directing.

Wasn't she rumored to miss out on auditioning for BOP?

Ya no little brother please, when Bat investigates the seven-ish case, all I have in my head is his sister from True Detective.

Edit: and instead of J Gyllenhaal in a Batman movie we got MAGGIE Gyllenhaal, and instead of Alex Daddario we might get the other Daddario.

reminds me of the Heisenberg/Eisenberg crack up as well, WB has tinnitus or something

cuz he's an ok actor and brilliant director, so instead of hiring someone in the level of Christian Bale they went for him, which means the payoff they wanted was him directing his own movie...

Yeah, I think she was being considered for Huntress. The role ultimately went to MEW, though.

"I got the non confirmed scoop first!" "No, I got the non confirmed scoop first!!"
Those grown men are embrassing.

As for Jack O’Connell, I watched him on Skins a long time ago and he was great. He's no Batman for me, he's too short and I won't be able to take him seriously as Batman next to Momoa, no matter how much heels he'll wear. He'd be perfect for Jason tho.

Exactly. Him as Jason next to Batfleck?? Freaking perfect.

They made RDJ look over 6'0" in the MCU films. Tom Cruise has made a career out of looking taller than he really is. Tom Hardy was made to look toe-to-toe with Christian Bale in TDKR. This has been proven to be a non-issue time and time again. If Reeves wants to make O'Connell appear taller than he is in real life, he can do so.

O'Connell would look larger in the costume just by virtue of muscle padding and combat boots giving him extra height. As for the Bruce Wayne scenes, that's a simple matter of camera angles and lifts. If O'Connell is Reeves' guy, in the sense that he wants nobody else for the role, they can work around the height issue. The more important thing to do is nail down the actor you think will deliver the best performance for what you are trying to do.
