"Dingo Attack!

Someone who subscribed to mega scooper RPK says its between Robert Pattinson and Aaron Taylor Johnson.

Again take with huge grain of salt, ATJ's name keeps coming up consistently from most sources/scoopers/bloggers so maybe its really ATJ after all..."

Don't see Pattinson doing two big budget films back-to-back, nor do I see him signing onto a franchise again any time soon.

Could be wrong.

I mean, he's never expressed anything against doing them. When he's asked he always answers "Never say never"

Robert Pattinson Batman was just too perfect to happen.
He's been on a string of wins, and he's working with some of the hottest directors around (Nolan, Cronenberg). Twilight must have really burned him out, considering Nolan 2020 is the first non-indie film he's said yes to since the Twilight days; while his co-stars did Snow White/Charlie's Angels and Adam Sandler films. We'll get Aaron Johnson, a dude who disappointed two big budget films back-to-back, and was pretty terrible in Kick-Ass 2. Also, he's a lot less selective than RPatts, so he probably would have said yes to any superhero film :/

Now watch Marvel snatch Pattinson in like 9 months for Nightmare in Doctor Strange 2 or something

And he hasn't been in much pretty much anything since 2016 except super super super small movies with his wife. Gee I wonder if maybe that's because he isn't that good an actor.

I wish Affleck was coming back but... since that isn't happening

Andrew Garfield...

He was very good in Nocturnal Animals, and apparently he's pretty good in Nowhere Boy too, but he's never impressed me outside of that. Even in Kick-Ass, he's like the fifth most engaging actor (after Cage, Moretz - who's doing tom & Jerry now, Strong and Platz), and he's pretty bad as "buff superhero 1" in kick ass 2, and there's also a reason no-one cared when his "buff superhero 2" died in age of ultron. Also, dude ruined Godzilla; if Cranston was the star of that whole film I'd have been fine with the lack of 'zilla

Its fine to be bad in a bad movie but AoU was a pretty good film and ATJ sucked/was forgettable in that.

I don't know who first brought up Pattinson as a candidate (BossLogic?), but at this point I'll be disappointed if it's anyone else. Dude's got the look, he can do charismatic, cold and tormented, he looks like an actual adult, and on top of that (and most importantly) he's one of the most interesting actors of his generation. He doesn't do films that look like big duds like Dark Phoenix/Tolkien, or actual duds like A Million Little Pieces.

Considering that he snag a golden globes, and that he just continued to do one movie every year, like he did these last few years, and with up and coming directors like Tom Ford and David MacKenzie, i dont think so

ah ah he had his moments :p

So you're confident about ATJ getting the job, Harlequinade?

Nicholas Hoult and ATJ are only ever good in off-kilter roles like Mad Max, Nocturnal Animals or The Favourite. They're terrible straight men, and have been incredibly boring in superhero ensembles already, can't imagine them being great when they're holding the whole film on their shoulders. Also, wasn't there a rumour that Hoult hated working on X-Men? Who's to say he won't hate this too?
Sing Street's one of my favourite films of the decade, but Jack Reynor - as good as he was there - would be an awful Batman. Jack O'Connell could have been good, he's certainly a great actor. Probably the best from that short-list.
