Cyborg: Michael Jai White

1069905_164328377087740_9271002_n.jpg

BONUS: Since you guys were enjoying the casting I decided to go ahead and cast Cyborg just in case they decide to go with the New 52 Justice League. I have yet to read the New 52 so I'm not sure if they want their Cyborg super young. My Cyborg choice would be Michael Jai White. Yes, the same Michael Jai White who played as Spawn awhile back. This dude is SHREDDED, not to mention his martial arts background. He totally kicks ass. Now I've always thought if they were going to re-do Mortal Kombat he would be the PERFECT Jax. But I also believe he'd make a great Cyborg.

Captain Marvel/Shazam: Brandon Molale

1001479_164342533752991_79546148_n.jpg

Captain Marvel (Shazam) is a character who has been a significant member of the Justice League. I wouldn't mind seeing him included later on in (what I hope is a trilogy/saga). This dude looks like Captain Marvel ripped right off the comic book pages; Brandon Molale. He's played in many masculine roles that require a strong dominant personality. He would be perfect for Billy Batson. I'm not even going to cast the kid version because that to me is a crapshoot.

Hawkgirl: Serinda Swan

988612_164603057060272_1306964591_n.jpg

This is Serinda Swan. She screams Shayera/Hawkgirl to me. Hawkgirl's persona is more of the kick ass first ask questions later mentality; a real alpha-woman. Serinda has that look like she can definitely pull off a dominant female role. She's been in tv series like Graceland and Breakout Kings as well as the movie Tron: Legacy. She's got the beauty and the build as well. She'd be perfect!

Hawkman: Joe Manganiello

1013928_164604323726812_1017211086_n.jpg

Meet my Hawkman, Joe Manganiello. Most of you have seen him in True Blood as it's really popular but he's also been in "Magic Mike" and "What to Expect When You're Expecting". He has the perfect build/body type for Carter Hall. He too, looks like he's been ripped off the comic pages. We all know he can act so that wouldn't be a problem at all. He just has that rugged scruffy brute look that we need our Hawkman to have. I think he'd make a perfect Carter Hall.

Harley Quinn: Zoey DeChanel

61810_164606073726637_603233380_n.jpg

Harley Quinn. Yes I know what you're thinking. She's not in the Justice League. Oh well, Zoey has been in my mind for awhile when it comes to Harley. I think her quirky personality along with really diving deep into the character of Harley could result in an amazing combination. It would be really interesting to see her take on the character. Zoey DeChannel, for those of you who don't know her, has starred in 500 Days of Summer as well as her own sitcom New Girl on Fox. Love her for Harley!

The Joker: Crispin Glover

994523_164993720354539_41218353_n.jpg

Joker. Now I know Heath Ledger's Joker will become a legendary interpretation on the character and it's well documented how much he was loved. For MY Joker, I would cast Crispin Glover. Crispin Glover is most known for his role in Back to the Future as well as the movie Willard. He is an eccentric personality who I feel would be able to enter that dark place one needs to tap into to fully become the Joker. Mark Hamill would have been my first choice but he is just too old at this point. Glover's hair is not an issue either. His hair has pretty much looked the same (that piercing part down the middle) but can be easily manipulated to emulate psychotic Joker hair. It's Hollywood people.

BONUS: Why DC could have had on-screen movie magic.

1014161_164934520360459_1026548865_n.jpg

DC really dropped the ball with this one. When hearing that Ryan Reynolds was casted as Green Lantern I was literally shaking my head. Like wow... DC... He was already Wade Wilson at that point and I felt that his personality would be better used as FLASH. He's too over the top for Hal Jordan. Cooper was also in the running for Green Lantern. I was rooting for him because I knew Ryan as Flash and Cooper as GL would translate to magic on the big screen. These guys are already the best of friends OFFSCREEN. Imagine the chemistry they could have brought us as our Barry Allen and Hal Jordan on-screen who share a similar relationship. Barry and Hal are practically BFFs and missing out on the opportunity to watch Reynolds and Cooper who are real life BFFs bring that relationship to life is disappointing. Why not just cast Cooper for Flash right? Wrong... He's just not the right fit for the character and that would mean keeping Reynolds as Green Lantern and that unfortunately carries the stigma of the awful first Green Lantern film. *Sigh* Enjoy the pic of what could have been.

But aren't there multiple back stories of Batman?

Yeah, but probably 70% of the GA knows that his parents were murdered when he was eight, and that the tragedy drove him towards fighting for justice by doing it vigilante style.

While it's always fun to poke around in Bruce Wayne's brain to see what makes him tick, we don't necessarily need to have an origin style film before we introduce him. If WB decides to do a standalone Batman film, they can explore the issue of his parents' deaths and his development as Batman then.

But I don't agree that it's necessary.

THIS, WB, THIS!!!

The last Superman FEATURE to about Superman's origin before MOS was about 35 years ago. Imagine the backlash of seeing another rehash on film just over a decade ago.

ASM might have gotten away with it. But I don't want the same fate for many other characters, including Batman. Unless it's for a live action Year One. Though, that would be greedy, especially since the cartoon was really faithful.

Nolan used quite a few elements from Year One.

^ I know. It's just so tonally different, though. Year One is so subdued, in comparison to a citywide threat. I guess I prefer that approach for an origin. And yes, I prefer Superman:TM to BB ;)

GQute,

Serinda Swan played Zatanna on Smallville.

No need to be rude.

Noomie Rapace would make an awesome Batman. There is a twist that would add another dimension.

That...would be an amazingly awesome twist. I could also see her as Batwoman.

OK, NEVER done this before...but has anyone considered Tom Welling (of Smallville fame) to play Batman?

  • age - 36 but can certainly play younger, just comb the hair differently...check
  • physique - 6'2" of AWESOME...check
  • square jawline & looks great in Armani - check
  • experience with superhero roles - check
  • can play intelligent & conflicted - check (although some might disagree, but check out certain late season episodes of Smallville for some interesting performances)
  • Already has a big following from Smallville, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind him in a different role, somewhat darker.
Waiting for the slam....:oldrazz:

I apologise for my posts that did come off as accusing. SPIDEY and I have been on friendly terms before and I do enjoy her posts. I was hoping to start a discussion on business and film and fandom. I did a poor job of it to say the least. I apologise to I SEE SPIDEY for my terrible posts.
Okay, I understand but apologizing for messaboard drama embarrasses me for some reason. We would have eventually started chatting and disagreeing and agreeing like normal soon enough. I accept your apology please lets move on.

Lovin' the Harley Quinn and Joker picks, those are MONEY right there. Also dig Joe M as Hawkman. Can totally see that one without a doubt. Pretty solid if you ask me, though, not sold on Gosling as Bruce (I see him more of an Aqua Man if you ask me.) I'd prefer a more built, solid & stalkier version of Batman this time around. More scruffy and aged lookin.

Apologizing is for sillynannies. :o

That Tom Welling suggestion is not real so lets not even pretend that it is. I did enjoy supernewbie's impassioned plea for some Joe M love. I still think that he is all wrong for Batman but I enjoyed the plea none the less.

Stop being mischievous. :oldrazz: I already pm'd him and everything is fine.

Nicholas Cage as Batman!!!!!!!! XD But for real, they need to find a way to keep Bale as Batman.

I was joking before, but now I want to see it happen just to see the rage. Paul Rudd for Batman. :oldrazz:

It's the only way I know how to be. I live for the Applause. ;)

People keep bringing up Joe M but he's a huge superman fan. Did you see how bitter he was when Henry got cast instead of him?....you think he would want to play batman along side the British guy that took his role? Cause that's what's he said when referring to Henry

lol So he got a little sassy. He's not getting the Batman role anyhow so his feelings don't matter one way or the other.

I can never decide who's more mischievous -- Loca or Loki.
Good question. :hmm:

Remember that James Franco also lost the Peter Parker role to Tobey Maguire and then he was cast as Harry Osborne. Also, Cillian Murphy lost the Bruce Wayne role to Christian Bale but was cast as Scarecrow instead.

That's how I see it for Joe Manganiello if he does get to be Batman and he would still star with Henry Cavill whom he lost the Superman role to.
