BvS Batman casting thread for Man Of Steel 2 - Part 7

Every actor has had a movie that they were bad in. I think Gyllenhaal did a good job with what he had in POP. Bentley was awful in GR because the script and movie itself was awful. He will only perform as good as the movie. I've never seen No One Lives so I can't speak on that, but I've liked Evans in what I've seen him in. For example, in Fast 6 I liked his character. It was a Batman type. There are so many reasons why Bentley would be good for the role, as well as Evans. I could even see Gyllenhaal doing a good job but I have a top 2.

True.

But you must understand, if that's the height of these guys being as Batman like as they possibly can, even if it's not, you must see how underwhelming it is?

I won't dismiss them completely, but I've seen enough to know I don't think they could be Batman.

All Armitage would do is sniff out crime with that huge beak on his face.

I'm self conscious about the beak on my face too :oldrazz:

I could just see it happening. Considering their links to people that will likely be involved with the casting for Batman. Luke Evans is doing Dracula right now and he has The Crow lined up next, so I'm not sure how clear his schedule would be. Gyllenhaal left Into the Woods to go do some other movie, so I'm not sure if he has the time. Wes Bentley will have a clear schedule and he has a strong link to Nolan through Interstellar. He is the most probable choice for me.

I can just imagine Nolan and Bentley discussing the possibility of him playing Batman while on the set of Interstellar. So much time... so many conversations. :yay:

My thoughts on most of the rumored/frequently mentioned candidates, as well as some others that no one seems to mention but I think could pull it off.

Full approval:

Rupert Friend
Philip Winchester
Michael Fassbender
Anson Mount
Ian Somerhalder

I can dig it:

Ryan Gosling
Jake Gyllenhaal
Luke Evans
Billy Crudup
Richard Armitage
Wes Bentley
Matthew Goode
Nicholaj Coster-Waldau
Joel Kinnaman
Liam McIntyre
Richard Madden

Eh, I'd deal with it:

Joe Manganiello
Jon Hamm
Karl Urban
Matt Bomer
Edgar Ramirez
Tyler Hoechlin
Garrett Hedlund
Zachary Quinto

Hate it:

Josh Brolin
Jim Caviezel
Jensen Ackles
Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Kill me now with a rusty saw dipped in anthrax:

Armie Hammer
Generic Grizzled War Veteran Guy from Pacific Rim
Scott Adkins
Gerard Butler

How are we going to get Ben Stiller and Paul Rudd mentioned on CBM, if you guys won't add their names. :argh:

:o

Just start your own site with a name like, say, chronicbooknews, and start posting about how your "inside source" at WB informed you that Stiller and Rudd are under consideration.

Rowsdower: Where would you put Jude Law and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers on that list?

Probably.

Nothing better for Nolan if the guy who plays Batman in his film. Good extra boost of interest.

I really dislike the idea of Bentley as Batman, to be honest.

What? No Taylor Lautner? :woot:

THIS JUST IN: Our exclusive, super-secret, upper echelon source at WB who only talks to us because we're a fan site run by one person and read by no one confirms that TAYLOR LAUTNER is in "final talks" to play Bruce Wayne. Our source also informs us that actors over 30 are no longer in consideration, as WB wants to appeal to the adolescent female demographic. Also, he will no longer be called "Batman" in the movie and will instead be referred to as "Absman."

:cwink: Sorry.

I like Law but not as Batman, so I guess I'd put him in the "deal with it" category. I think he'd make a good Lex though.

JRM could be really good though. Loved him on The Tudors; Cavill and him play off each other really well. I think he's better suited to Lex as well but I'd be down with him as Batman, so I'll put him in the "dig it" category.

I obviously like Caviezel, but he's highly unlikely. I think Armitage seems like a really good choice. Jon Hamm would be incredible, but also unlikely. Brolin or Urban would be "okay" but I'd need more convincing. The rest are all "meh" to "awful."

Dont EVER mention that name in Association with Batman.
Not even in Jest .
You might jinx it into happening.
NEVER!

I heard somewhere that Bryan Singer wanted him to play young Wolverine in X-Men First Class, but I have no idea if that was true.
