Richard Armitage is an interesting pick - I liked him in The Hobbit. But why does he always look so dour in the photos? The one constant expression that I always see on his face makes it look like he's just been slapped across the face.

Can we get a more cheerful representation? Either smiling or looking suave than well... looking slapped.

Also wouldn't hiring Armitage be like getting Marvel's sloppy seconds? It would be kinda strange that the guy who Marvel thinks is a henchman in a second tier solo franchise is actually hired by DC to be their leading man for their biggest cinematic superhero!

We usually get serious expressions because Bruce is serious whenever he isn't in public. Also, Armitage has beast eyes and a lot of expression from them alone.

WB used Michael Fassbender in a minor role for a comic book adaptation. Is it sloppy seconds for him to be Magneto? Sloppy thirds as Batman?

Armitage is the best choice given for what they seem to be going for imo. He's also the only choice I could see as Batman and as opposed to seeing Josh Brolin, Ryan Goshling, Jim Caviezal or Jon Hamm dressed up as Batman. I don't think the Marvel stuff really matters . Most people don't even know who the guy is even though they've probably seen the Hobbit.

Jonah Hex was literally only seen by the makers of the film. Haven't met a soul who has actually seen the film. And aren't the X-Men films made by Fox? Marvel doesn't make those films, they sold their rights to them.

If anything, it would be a slap in the face to Marvel.

'Hey Marvel, the guy you relegated to a generic bad-guy role, is now an iconic superhero!'

Having a somewhat unknown but familiar actor play Batman would allow audiences to have some assurance of quality, while having nervous anticipation or hype-stirring dread for this new take on the character.

True that and that's actually very sad. The third lead in a blockbuster global trilogy ought to take you to global fame but he looks so different in real life from Thorin that hardly any members of the general audiences will be able to recognize him or place him.
