Batman decapitates teen at Six Flags

what an idiot... sorry but the guy should have known better to go anywhere when theres a sign that says "Restricted area". how dumb can people be to not understand what that means??

Not only that, but they also tell everyone that, if you lose anything on the ride, you just gotta wait until closing and the ride attendants will personally retrieve the item(s) for you.

To add to that, Six Flags also has a policy against loose articles on the bigger rides (to which I will go out on a limb and say that it includes the Batman ride in Atlanta), which includes cell phones, hats, handbags, etc. Looks like heads will be added to the list in the upcoming week.

I like the Batman ok, but Mindbender and Superman are my fave coasters there.

True that. Batman is too short. We timed it once and it lasted less than 30 seconds! Way too short to stand in line for.

The Mindbender/Riddler is a GREAT coaster.

The fact that blatant signs are there, that's where their case would fall apart. If anyone gets hurt in a place that has clearly visible signs saying there is danger, they have no case, sadly.

I fail to see how the park could be held liable when signs are posted everywhere and the kid supposedly climbed two different fences!

Superman is my favorite at the Six Flags I work at. People wait in line for hours to ride it.

One of the few days I had to work rides a few weeks ago, we had this real big guy wait in line for 2 or so hours. He finally got on and couldn't fit in the restraints, so we had to ask him to leave.

Another rather large girl (to understate it) wouldn't fit in the restraints... The woman got so... Freaked out, I guess... From it, that her lip began twitching when we asked her to step off the ride. Whenever we'd release the lapbar for her to get up, she'd keep pulling it back down before the ride attendant could unbuckle her (if she even had the buckle on in the first place). Some people, man.

They won't be held liable. The case will be thrown out almost immediately.

That's what you think, I recall 2 teenagers (11- to 14 years old) trespass on a power station despite there was signs all over the fences which they both climbed over telling them to stay out and it's dangerous and such, the reason why they went in there? Just to play in there :whatever: one of them got burned when he touched something and parents being idiots sued the power station and surprised! They won :whatever: I wish I knew the jury reasons why those boys were not guilty of being idiots and it's their fault one of them got hurt

^ Probably because at that age, their brains still aren't fully developed. I remember seeing a program several years ago about teenagers and how and why they think they way they do. It was pretty compelling. I used to think the same way a lot of the people in this thread do .. they are old enough to know better. While that may seem reasonable, after hearing what science has learned about the teenage brain, you might change your mind.

At any rate, I do think he shouldn't have jumped the fences, obviously, but I also think that an organization as big as Six Flags ought to know better. If there is THAT much danger in doing what he did, then there should be no possible way for him to have done it.

They should have electrified the second fence. So if he made it over the first he would get fried by the second.

What a terrible way to go. "Oh, uh, I died at Disneyland." "Really? Not Six Flags or Great America where the rides are actually dangerous?!" "Yeah...:("

Hey, there's a space simulator ride at Epcot that actually keeps barf bags near the seats. :wow:

Idiots show up at Disney, too. Idiots at Grad Nite who think they can stand up on the rides or try to hide in the park after closing and go swimming in a river when they can barely swim. I was just in Disneyland last month--that river isn't that big. And the Matterhorn may be old, but it's big and fast and you leave your seatbelt buckled!

I was at Disney in Florida, taking my friends' kids on the Goofy Barnstormer, which is a kid coaster. These literally shoved their two daughters onto the line and walked away. The kids were barely older than 5. One of them walked the wrong way off after the ride and nearly fell through the tracks.

What idiot sends kids that young alone onto a roller coaster, even a kiddie coaster like that? People tried to tell them what happened afterwards, and they completely igorned everyone and walked away with their kids. :whatever:

Heres a little more info about the incident:

Boy Decapitated at Six Flags Amusement Park

COBB COUNTY, Ga. (MyFox Atlanta) – Investigators with Cobb County police said a boy was decapitated at Six Flags amusement park Saturday.

Authorities said the incident happened just after 2:00 p.m. Saturday. A church group went to the amusement park and a group of boys with the group jumped a fence and entered an area that was marked off limits.

One of the boys jumped up and tried to grab someone's feet who was on the Batman ride. The boy ended up being decapitated.

Investigators did not release the boy's age, name or the name of the church the boy was traveling with.

Not only was he dumb enough to climb those fences and go inot a resticted area, but he actually tried to grab someones feet as teh ride went overhead.

If that report is even accurate. I read that he was with a Baptist church group from Augusta and went back to retrieve his hat.

I don't think the park should get sued, the boy's family should be sued by the person that "killed" the kid, talk about emotional distress! Someone accidently kicked a kid's head off!

I remember losing a hat once at Great America when I was probably 12 or 13, never once thought about going to retrieve it, just went to lost and found filed a "report" and a few weeks later the hat was sent back to me.

Sad thing is, this isn't the first time someone's died of head injuries from dangling feet from the same ride, at that same park:

Batman: The Ride
In May 2002, a 58-year-old Six Flags employee was struck in the head by the legs of a passenger after entering a restricted area during the ride's operation. He died in the hospital as a result of the injury.

Anybody ride the Dark Knight coaster at Six Flags yet? I heard it's pretty tight. And you're in this cage thing, so now chance for lopping off heads.

AWWW DUDE..I LAUGHED:csad:

You're kidding, right? Regardless of their brain's developmental stage, even toddlers have the instinct of self-preservation. They are old enough to be able to read (and most DANGER signs also have symbols on them in case they can't) and understand the concept of danger, then yes, they are old enough to know better.

I'm really getting tired of this constant physiological and psychological mumbo jumbo that exempts people from any responsibility for their own actions. Under-developed brains, the over-diagnosis of A.D.D., can't people just be stupid anymore?

Whether they know better or not, some people are just stupid, Six Flags should not be liable for this

wow. what a freaking idiot. was he mentally challenged? did he have ADD? because if he didn't then good lord what the hell?
Did he think god would save him?

The more this story develops, the less sorry I feel. Jumping and grabbing someone's feet while the ride was in motion..wtf?
