Well, seeing as Sony and Avi Arad are more than partially to blame, I can't get let down by Raimi. He had a few bad ideas for SM3, sure, but he's done far more good things for cinema than bad. He's still the man, to me.

Raimi is still an awsome director, but he really did let everyone don with SM3.

I'd love to see a BF directors cut, I mean, with the deleted scenes on the SE you get a much deeper story.

He didn't let me down...I loved SM3

And I agree, a directors cut of BF is long overdue...

He DID let me down, they shoulda used Vulture instead ov Venom like they were going to, they ruined Venom.

I loved Venom in SM-3, I thought Topher did a spectacular job as both Eddie Brock & Venom. Being the *****e that he is, Sam Raimi didn't let Venom have the proper screentime that he needed. That's why I carry a deep hate for Raimi. If Avi didn't beg him to put Venom in the movie, we wouldn't eve have gotten what we got with him.

But we probably would've gotten him properly in SM4, or SM5, or... both!

But, he wanted to use the Vulture. They pressed him and meddled with his vision.
They should've let him finish his story and then leave the symbiote arc and Venom for the next trilogy, to be done properly and by some director who liked him.

Y'know why?...Cause Venom in the comics is an overrated, one trick pony and Raimi saw Venom for what he really is.

There really isn't much else you could do with the Venom character after Brock gets the symbiote.

Venom overrated??Highly disagree, Venom is what he is a natural bad to the bone supervillian and thats what he did best. I think the movie would of done better if they would of cut the emo time and put Venom in more...

Well maybe if we got the REAL Venom and not some ***** ass version of him, Topher Grace is an awful actor, seriously Venom eats brains and says WE ARE VENOM, he wouldnt have teamed up with Sandman so quickly.

In a weird perverted way, we are on topic:woot:
I view SM3 as the BF of the Spidey franchise. There are some differences (like Raimi being the same director of the trilogy, and that SM3 didn't change the tone as drastically as the Bat-franchise went from BR to BF), but there are more similarities, imo.

Ya I guess your right ill go back to my room now lol:cwink:

I just despise SM3 so much that we could turn this whole thread into a SM3 debate and its not worth it, its almost 50/50 on who likes or hates the film, so literally it could go on forever.

Oh, I 'd never passionately defend SM3. Just Raimi.:cwink:

His only real objective is to kill Spider-Man. He serves no other purpose in the comics.

In SM3, however, he's put in there to show Peter what he could have become if his dark side had taken over him. Figuratively speaking, of course.

No, because then it would be too much style and not enough substance.

The movie already suffered from that problem. The thing that made SM3 worse was that what style it did have sucked out loud, and the substance was poorly developed...in my opinion at least. This is a subjective topic.

It didn't seem that way to me but to each his own.

The problem with Spider-man 3 is the same problem that Batman & Robin suffered from -- too much **** going on for the movie to have any real meaning.

Spider-man 3 had a good concept. However, they needed to get rid of Sandman entirely, which would allow the story to focus movre on Peter and the symbiote, Harry as the New Goblin, and ultimately the build-up to Venom would have been much better. IMO, Venom didn't need more screen time, but he Brock needed to be in the story more, because when Venom finally did show up it was so random.

Brock is a little underdeveloped, I agree.

I think they could have added at least one more scene of him with Gwen, but overall, I thought he was fine.

No, he wasn't fine. He, along with Sandman, Harry, and Gwen, would show up for a scene and then disappear for a chunk of the movie. There was just TOO MUCH going on.

Spider-Man 3 is a much better film than B&R though. I really liked SM3, and didn't like B&R.

Schumacher also states Jude Law, Alan Cumming, Ewan McGregor, and many others also auditioned for the role!

Wha...?!? I can understand Jude & Ewan auditing, but Alan was one of the choice too?? He must've been like 28 or 29 at that time. That enough to be the same age as Batman. Is that really true Alan was one of the choice for Robin? :wow:
