Batman reboot: Should it be based on realism, dark imagination, or silliness

Both A and B is practically the Arkham universe, so that one.

 

I'm waiting to see more of MOS. From that, we just might have an idea what WB will want the shared universe to look like.

 

Actually I'd like to see a more sci-fi-oriented Batman franchise...one that's less Gothic and "grounded" and more in the neighborhood of Mad Max, Robocop and Blade Runner.

 

The Arkham-verse is the perfect example of what the reboot should feel like.

 

As Nolan films were more into realism, I would prefer dark imagination. With an element of mystery to it. It's something I believe Aronofsky will explore.

I really hope Aronofsky will be chosen to direct this, and give us a new style for Batman.

Basically...just turn Arkham Asylum into a live action movie and then we'll have a true Batman film.

As for me, I loved Nolan's realism but after three films of that I would like to move on to dark imagination. A different tone would set the new trilogy apart as well.

 

Aronofsky was asked to go to the extreme, he went even further and that's why Year One is the way that it is. If he came back i guarantee his Batman would be very different from that.

But Arkham City is the way to go. Dark imagination but with hints of realism.

 

As many people have said, Id love for it to be like arkham asylum and arkham city. Love the feel of those games. And they include fantastical elements yet still manage to stay fairly realistic-ish. As realistic as you can get with a giant crocodile man.

 

Make it as much like a live action version of the animated series as possible.

 

Both A and B, but unafraid to use the more supernatural elements of the comics. So yeah, I guess I'm another of the "like the Arkham games" crowd. t:

Combine TAS and the Arkham universe and thats the feel of the new movie

 

When people say make TAS big screen version. I hope they aren't taking themselves seriously. You really want Joker doing things like escaping on christmas trees, and more of a joke than he is a threat? I mean I love BTAS as much as anyone but come on first it's a cartoon second it still is a kids show at the end of the day.

What does TAS have that should translate well to a movie? I think it would be a failure trying to please fans of a kids show from the 90s. I love TAS I have every episode but it is a kids show I can't say that enough. The Joker is more of a clown than a menace. I don't want to like the joker. I want to hate that I like him not like TAS where he is truly funny and doesn't make me want to punch his face.

We don't need Hamill's joker on screen unless it's closer to Arkham games. Conroy batman will do fine but his Bruce Wayne needs work

Yeah i get the "i want the fantastical world" like TAS, but accurate to the series? Not so much.

It's a kids cartoon and it was really cool. It's what they should have done in the late 90's with the Shumacher movies but they gave us poor versions of Two-Face and Mr Freeze instead. That dark kinda fantasy and such but the playfulness of it, without butchering each character. That's what Batman Forever/Robin + sequels could have been like. But it's not what i want from the reboot.

The Arkham games are a perfect "go to" for the next few movies. If not, the next several. It's not overly goofy to please the kids, but it's dark & fantastical. Open to endless possibilities for villains and some of Batmans methods. But it's got some grit to it, the story is still serious. The actors cast should be great actors who will take it seriously, like Nolans..without resorting to one-liners. The action is fun and it stays inside Gotham City.

There was Mask of the Phantasm. Though it had some of the goofier elements you mentioned, it's a pretty mature film overall. A live action film with that sort of tone would be good.

 

Looking at the world created by Nolan-Snyder-Goyer which is grounded, it doubt that the new Batman movie will be different in tone than that, the new batman movie will be set in the world similar in tone - look like MOS.

I expect the Batman reboot to be be in tune with the new MOS movie and some what look like TASM movie, it will not look like Arkham Asylum games.

 

I think we can all agree that they wouldn't have the same restrictions that the actual animated series had.Having said that,I wouldn't want an "R" rated Batman anyway.
