BvS Batman/Superman Pushed Back to 2016 - Part 1

The scope of the film is what steers the marketing ship. Movies like Watchmen, Constantine and even many of the Marvel movies demand lots of early advertising because people are unfamiliar with the characters/story. With something like this movie they're going to do it similar to MOS: GA awareness and appeal first and foremost. They can completely ignore the fanbase and it won't affect their revenue.

I truly miss the days of watching a big blockbuster movie after only seeing one trailer. For me the last one was Tropic Thunder.

Hah I wish I could do that but I write about these things on a daily basis. Still, one day when I excuse myself from the biz I will revert back to being blissfully ignorant of marketing bombardments

It's hard not to overexpose yourself to info these days...especially with places like this. I'll try not to.

I remember two movies I went into without even hearing about them until friends decided to see a movie...'Field Of Dreams' and 'Internal Affairs'. It made watching those movies SO much better not knowing anything about them. My most anticipated movie ever was definitely GoodFellas. And it exceeded my expectations so much I stayed through two screenings back to back.

I keep telling myself I'll stay away from leaked info once we've seen the how Batfleck and Wondergal will look in the movie and only watch one or two trailers for it. I'll probably fail miserably at it though.

What are the chances that WB releases the first look in Entertainment Weekly, this coming month?

If they are, we could very well have the pic in 2 weeks time.

Have they historically gotten exclusives like that?

I'd say EW has an 80% chance of being the first reveal place. After that they'll definitely be getting the majority of other "first looks"

who carried the first Cavill superman pic?

I remember when Chronicle came out a couple years ago. I randomly saw a tv spot about it a couple weeks before it was released and i literally had no idea of its existence. I was like " a movie about teenagers with superpowers?? How have I NOT heard of this??" And i ended up LOVING it and i think my unawareness of the film actually helped alot.

I'm sure Snyder and WB's will release a pic of the Bat suit or even Cavills new suit on their terms with proper lighting and set up so it can look awesome as opposed to letting some crappy spy pic be leaked to the public first.

I think sometime in Feb we will see the new Batsuit.

Odds are, both will be released at the same time.

Where are people getting that Cavill will have a new suit? They might make some tweaks like Raimi did to the Spider-Man suit from film-to-film, but it seems like people are expecting there to be a major overhaul. I highly doubt that will happen.

He won't have a whole new suit, but the costume designer said he will make some slight tweaks.

I must have missed that. All I heard was the thing about him having a new hairstyle, though I'm not sure if that is actually true.

slight tweaks could be cosmetic tweaks..stuff we'd never notice..

Like letting him take a pee without having to wait 30 mins and 5guys to take it off.

I had no idea that so many Marvel movies were delayed as well.

http://marvel.com/news/movies/2009/3/12/7214/marvel_movie_update_new_release_schedule

In March 2009, Marvel announced that several of their films were being delayed from the original dates they announced back in 2008. The official press release from Marvel states that...

THOR was bumped from July 16, 2010 to May 20, 2011, roughly 10 months,

THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA (as it was called back then) was delayed from May 6, 2011 to July 22, 2011,

and THE AVENGERS was delayed from July 15, 2011 to May 4, 2012, roughly ten months as well.

Even more recently with Disney, Thor: The Dark World was delayed by 4 months (and the original director left with less than two years to the original release), Star Wars Episode 7 was delayed by 6 months due to script rewrites, and Pirates V was delayed by a year.

Yep. Lots of spectacle movies get delayed across varying stages of production. The timing of the delay gives you an idea of the reasoning behind it.

Oh just to correct myself.

I said in a previous post that Hunnam is will playing opposite Hugh Jack in the Pan movie. It is actually Garrett Hedlund!

The females will probably want to see Jackman and Hedlund ahead of Rudd and old timer Douglas on that July 17th date

This new Pan film will probably be a better date film.
