i can't believe fans will don't like this movie. it clicks all the boxes rightly.
it should get 10/10 if not for the ending... that the destruction wasn't dreadful enough and superman didn't do much saving.
anyway it is a bit dark... and not the typical cheerful blue boy scout..

his superman has to go thru a lot. pity him.

My exact thoughts. It seems like the polls on SHH! are only open for like 72 hours, i cannot tell you how many polls i tried to vote on over the years that said "Closed" not long after they were opened.. I never started a poll on here before so not sure if it's up to the person starting the poll decides how long it's open for or if it's the forum or Mods themselves who close it? :huh:

Here is a very spoiler filled and funyy review of the movie that I found on youtube.

Yeah MovieBob & Grace Randolph are about the furthest extremes to either corner on this movie that I have seen. He says it's a bowel obstruction of a film, she says it's near perfect. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

Well my first viewing is Friday 12:15ish pm ct, then i'm going again on Saturday with 7 other people who are not nearly into Superheros as i am, so i'm really looking forward to hearing from some folks who are simply coming with me to enjoy a good movie.

I brought 13 people with me to MOS back in 2013 on my 2nd viewing of it, and they all really enjoyed it, some more then others.

This is why i like vids like this, getting your average audience point of view of the movie. Yes one of these people were in the movie (an extra), but if every soccer mom feels how this soccer mom feels WB should be in good shape...

I just got back from my showing a couple hours ago. I'm beyond disappointed right now. I felt like there was hardly any Superman in this film at all and what I did see was so lackluster it honestly bored me. About half way through the film I started wondering if this movie had a point and if it did, how long until I see it. Lex was so annoying and over the top that any scene with him in it just made me angry and frustrated. I was so on board with this film going in. Ive always defended the film. I've loved everything I've seen or heard regarding the film but I just walked out feeling meh about it all. I want to go into detail but that would require spoiler tags and I honestly can't be F'd.

5.2/10

Eisenberg's Lex was always my biggest fear in the casting dept. after I saw from the trailers the direction they were taking the character(using Max Landis as a guide/model/blueprint....really??????!!!!) and from what I'm reading in reviews I was right to be worried.

Honestly I'm just sad during last 15*years WB cancelled Wolfgang Petersen's Batman vs Superman or George Miller's Justice League: Mortal and then they finally make those movies they hire*Zack "The Hack" Snyder. That's just unbelievable...

because BvS superman isn't mentally strong enough? or he isn't cheerful enough?
it completes the whole story of MOS!!! people fear unknown. and batman symbolizes the people.

watched it last night and loved it. there are some issues, mainly editing imo but i'd give it a 8/10.

i'm going to watch it again tomorrow to see if it holds up. but people please go watch the movie and make up your own mind. just go in expecting you could hate it but also maybe love it.

i was never once bored but surprised and shocked at some things. it was also beautifully shot. it made me excited about the future.

I just watched BvS. It's not the worst movie ive ever seen, but it's very problematic. I think Zack Snyder doesn't understand how important motivation is.

It's weird, he learned from some of the mistakes in MoS, but made different ones. For example:
- The fight scenes are mostly shorter, not as much time is wasted;
- They avoid collateral damage, in a manner as heavy-handed as in Age of Ultron unfortunately;
- There is no cringeworthy dialogue on the level "they say it all goes downhill after the first kiss";

I'll say what was good about the movie:
- Wonder Woman, I don't think there was anything bad about her, it's all good and she's adorable and has great lines like "I don't think you've ever met a woman like me." Also it's great that she enjoyed fighting Doomsday;
- Batman is mostly good, as is Bruce Wayne, also most of what he did during the Battle of Metropolis like saving that little girl;
- Alfred, Lois, Perry White, were all good;
- It wasn't a sex-less film, good bathtub scene actually;
- I liked Luthor's acting and portrayal, if not his motivation;
- There were a few jokes, I liked Perry's joke about 1938. I smiled three or four times so that's something. Genuine smiles too.

I'll say what was bad:

- The opening montage was totally useless, and was trying to be high-art by mixing fantasy and reality. It would work better if they played it straight, they're trying to show us Bruce Wayne's heart. Or maybe don't bother with it, we've already seen this in other movies, a better origin story for this Bruce Wayne would have been seeing Robin die.
- Clark Kent has no motivation to hate Batman. In the real world, if a vigilante was going around branding sex criminals, everybody would support him. It just makes Clark look like a bully;
- The motivation for Bruce and Clark to become friends, that they both have a mother named Martha, is ridiculous. You can't come up with something so nonsensical if you tried.
- Does Superman need to save Lois' life THREE times?
- I didn't buy that guy in the wheelchair;
- Lex Luthor's motivation is that he's crazy because his father was abusive toward him. Did I get that right? That's a silly and mean-spirited motivation.
- Nothing Luthor does in the scout ship make any sense. Why does he have unlimited access? How does he make Doomsday?;
- Not quite sure what was going on with the Knightmare;
- When Batman goes to save Martha Kent, he fights some goons along the way holding her hostage. OK. My issue with that scene is that he took his sweet time to beat up everybody, rather than getting to Martha as fast as possible;
- They set up this arc of the senate looking into Superman and it goes nowhere;
- Will people who are not serious comic book fans know who Flash were and who Aquaman were?
- Why does Lois drop the spear into a pool of water? Does she think it's safe there? It's very wasteful and dumb.
- When Lois is drowning, is she randomly thumping, or is she doing morse code? I can't tell.
- I don't see why Clark didn't just drop Doomsday on the moon.
- The way the movie slows when Wonder Woman is watching the movie reminds me of Thor taking that bath in Age of Ultron;
- Does nobody care about scene transitions?
- How is it that Superman did nothing to secure the remaining Kryptonian artifacts?
- Anderson Cooper and Neil de Grasse Tyson were annoying;
- Too much reliance on musical score to create emotion;

I want to point out that this easily could have been Christian Bale's Batman, so I believe all the rumours from three years ago that they wanted to sign him. Everything works if you say that the events of MoS take place a few years after the events of TDKR.

Grade: C+

Just got back and I have to say that I have mixed feelings too.

There was a lot to cover and each character felt like they weren't given enough to really feel like the characters we know and love. I ended up wanting more from everybody, and more of a sense of the cities of Metropolis and Gotham.

They try to steep everything with emotional weight and meaning, even very simple things. But most scenes felt like a setup.

I honestly thought there would be more to the BvS fight.

As a Superman fan:

I did not like that Superman went out like a punk by both Batman and Doomsday. Even in the animated movie "Superman: Doomsday" he fought long and hard with Doomsday . But, as said above, Snyder doesn't seem to want to prolong fights now. But resolve them with epiphanies!

And I didn't feel emotional at the end. It just all felt rushed.

There were some great moments, though. I loved the setup of the Justice League- that was the real thrill for me.

I saw it in 3D at a regular cinema and I will see it again in IMAX 2D (pre-booked a while back) and I guess I am looking forward to that, just to clear my mind up about it.

Willi, interesting comments. If you had to rate it what would you give it currently?

Looks like this movie suffers because they edited out chunks of movie to get a run-time of 2.5 hours, I will see it myself to see if my theory is right.

Extended edition coming out may alleviate that problem, me thinks.

It'd be better to have this convo on the spoiler thread but concerning like 90 % of your cons, I feel like all those things are in the film and you just didn't see them or pay attention, I'm not being an ass, but all those points baffle me, especially about character motivations.

It's WAAAAY worse than Daredevil because the Kingpin at least a good villain.

I agree. Also DD was definitely more compact and from financial perspective it was a decent success - 175M against 75M production budget when TV and home video markets were extremely strong.

BvS - 5/10
DD - 7/10
