i wouldnt mind seeing that

Disgusting. Doesn't help the body proportions are off.

I'm glad they lost the red underoos for Superman, lol.
I love the pre 52 Superman and his suit (while I hate the new 52 ones, that's another topic tho), but c'mon ... It's 2016 and some of you guys want him to wear red underwear above his tights in a live action movie. That's a relict of the past that many want back just because of nostalgia. Modernize the trunks in a logic way first and we can talk.

As Snyder says in one of the MoS featurettes, the reason it was made part of the costume in the first place is that during the 1930s it was a vestige of the late Victorian era's iconic circus Strong Man.

I prefer the new movie style.

Not all of us want to see a Superman film set in the present day. Personally I would like to see a sort of timeless Superman film where its not bound by any particular era.

As for the costume we have had plenty of films that have proven that a superhero doesn't need some flashy "up dated" costume to come across as bad ass. Films like Watchmen or Kick-Ass have shown that all you need to do is sell the character and setting and the rest takes care of its self.

Yeah, the proportions are not really any different than him in MoS/BvS.

Another thought on the red trunks tho:
Set in a realistic world, wouldn't people think "Why the hell is he wearing those trunks on the outside?" and what could possibly be the explanation for it?

Probably in the same way people look at any "weird" fashion trend and think "what they hell are they wearing that for?"

Superheros would create their own style and fashion within the Superhero world and like Punks, Goths, Ravers etc. They should look different to the rest of the norms.

I feel like this isn't an angle that has been covered in superhero films and I think if done right it would allow for us to see our favorite classic comic book costumes as silly as some people think they might look.

Indiana Jones for me.

i would LOOOOOVE to see a Fleischer styled Superman movie

Somewhere in between The Rocketeer/Watchmen/Indiana Jones would do it for me.

@Mad Love - Its not so much the film it self being timeless but the setting and tone of the film. A film that feels it could be set in the past or the not so distant future but without ever directly referencing the present day.

Hall Of Justice

Fortress Of Solitude

I know that these locations won't be in the movie but it would be cool.

This post reminds me that one thing I like about MoS's and BvS's Superman suit it that it is conceived as an alien world's form of dress. In one of the MoS featurettes it is shown that all Kryptonians wear this same sort of form fitting chain-mail-like fabric, often with a cape, an of course with the house emblem on the chest. Sometimes with armor worn over it, and I guess depending on their status also wearing a headdress of some sort. But anyway, the suit is part of the Kryptonian mythos in these films, and I love that sort of rich worldbuilding.

Oh, and on Krypton best I can see, no one is wearing "trunks" on the outside of their clothing!

I wonder, though, how conventional the colors in Superman's suit are for Krypton... Everyone that we see there seems to be wearing black and gray with silver or gold trim...

I'm loving some of the manips I'm seeing here. The one with Cavill in the red underwear is suprising well done. That darksied manip is terrifying in a good way. Hopefully they don't drastically change his design when he premiers in the future. The there's the hall of Justice manip. Can't wait to see the JL in their base. I'm assuming Batman pays for it too be built. :funny:

Then theres that Deadpool one, I cracked up hard at that.

if not trunks, then simply an addition of red to his sides...

That does indeed look quite good and breaks up the blue more than just the gold

If they start adding red on the suit it will eventually end up like this :

And this is a complete mess. Might as well put the underwear on.
