Well South Park also is able to bang out shows in under a week. All the other shows take months to produce. No matter what any other show might throw at them, they could retailiate within a weeks time.

I think a big thing is the whole generation gap. In the 70's and 80's Star Wars was "THE" movie for the generation. This generation has LOTR and if you do a poll, LOTR gets almost as many votes sometimes.

Now you compare the Simpsons with 17 seasons vs. Family Guy with less than 5. Everyone's arguement is that the Simpsons is slumping the last few years but with even say 10 good seasons that at least 5 more seasons than Family Guy and you can seriously compare it? But people have already said the same thing it appeals more to younger audiences who think the show is "edgier" even when they can't understand most of the jokes.

The problem that I see, at least this is for me can't speak for everyone, that after watching Family Guy, even the older Simpsons episodes, in the prime for that series, they aren't even that funny anymore to me. I don't think Family Guy necessarily appeals to just the younger crowd, but to the more more mature audiences more, more than the Simpsons.

A lil update I watch now all 4 shows, dvd, syndication, new episodes. So I think I'm as impartial as you are going to get. Simpsons over and over has displayed 2 types of humor, the slapstick humor that most people get but it also has intellectual humor that goes over the heads of a lot of people but still very funny.

Saying Family Guy is more mature when in actually it's just more crude should be the better way to state that.

The Simpsons still cracks me up, old and new.
Family Guy was funny when it first came out, since it's been picked up again on FOX it seems to have lost something.

Futurama is a riot, I miss it. I have no cable, as yet.

American Dad, it fills dead air. I'm not in love and I don't hate it.

Since I have no cable I haven't really been keeping up with South Park. It is syndicated here, but I haven't really gotten the burr up my butt to TIVO it.

Oh, and I just really miss Johnny Quest, that is all.

why are we only allowed to vote for these four cartoons. throw aqua teen hunger force in the mix and they'll f**k some s**t up, proper!

Home Movies pwns all.:o

Where's King of the Hill?

I would rather watch another gag infested, non-story, talking animal, celebrity voiced, won't be a classic in 50 years time, pwned by Pixar, Dreamworks animated feature than American Dad.

KING OF THE HILL IS NOT EVEN FUNNY. AT ALL.... :o:down

says the person who thinks Lebron is gonna win the nba championship this year

I think Family Guy was better before it came back, not that the new episodes are bad, they just seem to be missing something... I think it was that feeling that the show could be cancelled at any time, so they were having a blast making fun of everybody.

Now, it's here to stay. It's like South Park, its offensiveness isn't as funny anymore because you know nobody's going to react to it.

The Simpsons is classic, and American Dad is good in its own way... but I voted for Family Guy.

In my opinion Manga/Anime is crap, the only reason why there are adult themed cartoons in Japan is because that is their only form of entertainment because their music and movies suck (except for Battle Royale but that was a spin off of a book that turned into a manga that then turned into a movie).

They have adult based cartoons in japan because its a continuation of thousands of years of picture based storytelling and because the japanese dont tend to label things as much as the west. Thats why they are just as happy watching an animated or a live action film. Hell... Japanese cartoons from a decade ago were pushing themes that Hollywood has only recently decided to try.

Japanese films and music dont suck.

I used to read the comic strip from time to time... It was alright. Not too sure about the cartoon though.
