I just picked it up, and what can I say, but man it was bloody awesome. I loved the flash back of LeoConvoy and Razor Beast, they were really cool. Even the little details like the Cybertron forms of everyone. Just blew me away. The best had to be Optimus Minor eating a banana, flipping gold, I tell ya. What did everyone else think?

I agree it was a great read and the artwork is fantastic. I can't wait for the next issue.

Here is a picture of an up coming cover...

That cover is awesome. Does anyone know if there is a list of the new characters or just pictures of them somewhere online?

I think they are using just about all of the toys made for beast wars.

Does anyone have a preview of issue 2 and not just the cover.

IDW Publishing's Art Du Jour page has been updated with another Transformers-related page of artwork and this time it's from Beast Wars: The Gathering #3! Check out the preview page with artwork from Don Figueroa and colors by Josh Burcham.

What I'd like to know is...Were at Transmetal time. Sure.

But what happens if the series goes on to a point...AFTER it? Surely Beast Machines will be ignored...

Otherwise would the "future self" thing here not be true? Or did I miss something?

This leaves me with a question...If the characters can't really be seen/touch (or can they?) the original cast in their altered state...Will they eventually?

Not really a question for fans but something I immediatly thought of when I read the first issue. Definitly not what I expected and certainly cooler!! =D

I hope so Beast Wars had a much better story...

Not at first they are just out of faze temporarily.

Agreed

Also I think that TM Megatron will have a match up against Magmatron in up coming issue.

Beat Wars #1 was decidedly more staisfying than Infiltration #1. At least for me, anyway.

And I got a real kick out of the cameos from Big Convoy and Lio Convoy. Even if this comic doesn't gel with Japanese Beast Wars continuity, those were some awesome cameos.

If you read the small print the series is only a four issue mini series.

yeah, but so many people like it that i bet it will go on. plus so was the original transformers series in '84.

From what I understand this will not be the only Beast Wars mini...

Where did you hear this? And have you heard anything else about it?

Hopefully. I have so much faith in this new beast wars series that they will bring some honor to where the series ended.

what did u guys think of issue 2? i thought it was awesome. even tough i like infiltration, i definitely prefer this so much more.

I thought it was a great follow-up.

Not feeling anything for 90% of the characters, but given that there's so many, and that the mini is rather short, I don't think I'm supposed to.

And I kinda like the huge number of characters, as it hightens the "war" aspect of "Beast Wars".

But what REALLY roped me in was the cliffhanger.

Ravage is back!

And yeah, even though it further conflicts with Japanese continuity (he came back already in the Binaltech storyline) I really couldn't care. This is gonna be great.

Can anyone explain this to me. I am a fan of the original series, but i'm getting very confused. First off when does this whole thing take place? Best I can figure its right after season 2, but I don't know for certain.

And another thing, what they hell is going on with all these new characters. Are we just seeing another side to this, or is time factoring in, in a way i'm not seeing.

Help...

This takes place sometime during the third season, definately after the episode "Deep Metal" (considering Depth Charge appeared in the first issue).

Magmatron and all his Predacons and Razorbeast and his Maximals are chronolly out of sinc with the rest of the Transformers on prehistoric Earth, so nobody can see them.

All these "new" characters are actually Beast Wars toys that never got to appear in the cartoon in the US.

Story-wise, the "new" Predacons are actually part of the official Predacon military controlled by the Tripredacus Council, and under Magmatron's orders. Keep in mind that Megatron and his band of Predacons were all rogues acting against the orders of the Tripredacus Council.

The "new" Maximals are all culled from the left-over stasis pods that crashed to Earth after the Vok Planet-Buster ignited most of the energon onthe planet and screwed up their fixed orbit. The left-over stasis pods were actually one of the original shows biggest loose-ends and I'm glad to see it being tied up.

Razorbeast was actually under orders from the Maximal Elders and Lio Convoy to infiltrate the Predacon ranks and get those stasis pods (and the protoforms inside) before Magmatron did.

The Gathering is a fantastic book so far, but I think it's one major failing is that it is not geared toward the casual reader. It's aimmed at the hardcore Transformers fan and Beast Wars enthusiast.

I agree, I watched Beast Wars die hard when I was a kid, but that was so long ago. I haven't seen an EP in a while and this is really starting to bug me. Thanks for clearing that up, it helps. I also forgot that Megatron was a rouge.
