Bendis leaving Marvel for DC

worried because now slott will have no opposition on his reign of terror

Good for Bendis. DC is thriving and that should be a great fit...he's a very professional writer with a good work ethic.

And of course this is just more sour news for the sinking ship that is Marvel. Their Legacy is not doing well from what I understand and this news certainly can't help the situation.

Ouu... interesting a Bendis take on Batman would be an interesting read.

I fine with this.

Personally I found Bendis work at Marvel a mixed bag. Bendis street level stuff tended to good but I wasn't a fan of events work or his more high profile character books (Iron Man, X-Men & Guardians Of The Galaxy).

I actually think this is a blessing for Marvel. Bendis has been at Marvel for almost two decades and had become a bit too ubiquitous at Marvel in recent years. Some fresh creative talent at Marvel would be a good thing.

What keeps these characters relevant is new writers coming along and coming up with their own stories and ideas for these characters.

Of all the characters I think Bendis would be a fit for, I vote for bringing Ted Kord back into the spotlight. Bendis works best with solo characters, not team books. I think he could handle the small cast (Ted, Jaime, and maybe Booster) that would come with that.

And he usually tilts on the lighter side, which fits with all of them.

The only reason I say Ted and not Booster himself is because Bendis is way better on the small scale, not the big or cosmic stuff that would probably come with Booster.

Wondering what this will mean for Riri

This is my big question right now. Though I think getting someone other than Bendis to write her would be a good thing.

I'm all for Bendis taking on Blue Beetle, though! Ted and Jaime are tailormade characters for him.

People have hated Bendis since I began reading comics. I've heard the same declarations that comics are the worst they've ever been and are in crisis for about ten years now. Bendis usually came up as responsible for Marvel's tanking quality, but his comics always sold. So it's interesting seeing the reaction.

I'm not a fan of things like Decimation or AvX. He really gives every character the same voice. But I do like Miles and liked his All New X-men and Uncanny X-men runs.

Yes!!! One down and a lot more to go but this is a good start. I feel bad for DC fans though. You just know a portugese disabled transgender lesbian is gonna become Batman.

Yeah, I guess Marvel's editors and EiC Alonso were all compelled to agree to Bendis' ideas... :whatever:

His ultimate Spider-Man run is legendary to me. That said yeah it's gotten tiresome how almost everyone talks the same that he writes.
I'm intrigued about him writing for DC but they have so many characters I dislike I just hope he writes some cool ones

I'm seeing reports that the big reason for the change is his loss of influence on the movie side of things. When Marvel Studios split from Marvel Entertainment, the committee or whatever it was called that gave comic creator input on the movies was abandoned. Bendis was pretty big on that. He still had influence on the Netflix side of things, but he no longer had an influence on Marvel movies. So the DC deal has been advertised as including all forms of media, not just comics.

Bendis was the worst best thing that ever happened to Marvel. His writing increased sales for some reason that still eludes me because most of his "big" comics (i.e. after Ultimate Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones) are utter garbage, but his writing style left the Marvel universe a shambles, with continuity thrown by the wayside whenever he felt twisting a character into an entirely opposite direction from 99% of their history made for a better story (which, of course, it never actually did). Good f***ing riddance. I hope he makes Batman sell better than ever while destroying every iota of the character's legacy.

That's not what i said, in fact i specifically said there are a lot more people at Marvel who should go. Yes Axel Alonso is one of them. And people can roll their eyes at me all they want but you know i'm speaking the truth. This forced identity politics thing ruined Marvel comics. Look at their comic sales and tell me i'm wrong.

And then when diehard fans have a problem with their beloved characters getting replaced by walking stereotypes, then those people are branded racist, sexist, homophobe etc. Absolute bullcrap!

Hmm. That's interesting...

Aww, the snowflake is offended by diversity.

You're missing my entire point but it's fine, the sales don't lie.

And now we can have a Superman finally be Jewish.

Hey, he made Spider-Man Jewish and Superman was always inspired by Moses. :D

If he's just going to destroy DC with his SJW idiocy the same as he's done at Marvel, then it would be better if he had just stayed at Marvel to limit the damage to classic characters.
