really excited about this game. I was always a much bigger Marvel than DC fan (might have been part of the reason DCUO wasn't a keeper for me) what's you guys take on it?

details:
1 - no created characters, only use Marvel characters
2 - being developed by Gazillion/Secret ID Studios
3 - Free to Play
4 - being written by Brian Michael Bendis

looks like they're about to do the art reveal for Wolverine soon http://mmmsociety.tumblr.com/

I forgot about this! While I'm slightly bummed you can't create your own character, at least I can still play as Spidey :D

This MIGHT be the first MMO I honestly pay for, only because it's Marvel. Only time will tell, though.

I much rather use marvel characters than a created one. My only wonder is how theyll do it? It won't be fun at all if there's a billion Wolverines running around in one world

One thing they can do to help make characters different is all of the different costume variations each character has & maybe let you pick your own colors etc

I think it'd be weird having like 10,000 people play as spider man at one time. That's too many spider-men.

hmmmm.....the thought of 10,000 Spideys or Wolvies running around a city is.......disturbing.........

Yea, it'd be too much for even 2 Spider-Men. Maybe each server will be locked to a specific character. I won't play it if I'm one of 100 diff Wolverines

My guess is the game will be done in instances, and a wolverine will only be able to play with other characters etc. This allows for a party-driven system, and it'll allow for different characters to party up.

The issue is you know EVERYONE is gonna think there wolverine is the sickest wolverine.

I was thinking that each server only allows one of each character, but for everyone to have an equal chance at playing their favorite character, there'd have to be MILLIONS of servers. So, that doesn't work.

yeah the server question is interesting. while playing as marvel cheracters is something to look forward to, i agree that 20 wolverines running around is corny.

found this blog googling marvel universe online. looks like a fansite tho.

hopefully Gazillion will release some new info pretty soon.

No created characters. :csad: They could at least let us create our own mutants.

i still wanna wait for more info to be released. but i know no create-a-character is a big deal for some. i oculd go with marvel Characters as long as their is enough variety. looks like we'll be able to lead the life of a hero going around and saving people tho.

i wonder if we can be villains too. i sure hope so.

I'd vote for superheroes/supervillains randomly assigned to any given player for any given 24-hour period.

You log in, and congrats --- you're Hypno Hustler for the next 24 hours. :)

i want union jack!!!..mine mine mine!!

Seriously? Lame...I thought they were going to do a real MMO. :/

Wasn't an MMO canceled a while back, is this the same thing or something new?

Some other company got the Marvel mmo license and started their own game after Cryptic switched Marvel to Champions Online. I think.

I am guessing Microsoft will get a hold of this one to combat DC Universe Online

There really isn't that much to combat, DCUO's numbers have gradually been dropping & now the game has gone free to play inside a year of it's release.

I was really looking forward to DCUO, but in my opinion the game came out completely unfinished. Numerous problems ranging from graphical, to sound.. to even the basic chat system which is probably one of the worst I've ever seen in a game.

I wish they'd have waited a year. Ironed things out & got a good solid core game sorted to make a better first impression. I mean I know it's an MMO & it's expected to be a little choppy at the start due to the scale of things, but really there is no excuse for releasing a game with alot of basic graphical & sound errors that any other PS3 game can seem to have ironed out for release.. AND expect people to be paying full whack for it as well as a monthly fee.
