FCBD Avengers

It's what I'm thinking. I just don't think that Steve is going to come back during Dark Reign. I know people seem to want him to come back and punch Osborn, end it all and be the beacon of hope, but I just don't see it happening like that. Could be wrong, though

Well in a way I hope Steve returns during the Thor Crossover, Siege of Asgard, but since Dark Reign seems to be an Avengers related crossover, I'm thinking Steve will return toward the end of the current crossover.
Although you have to figure, Steve said he couldn't Rest in Thor and the fact they left an opening for a somewhat easy return for Cap via Valhalla.

Cap would be repulsed by what is going on in Dark Reign, and an enraged spirit like Steve's would find a way back.

I'm just not sure WHERE he'll return.

Well, he may return, I'm not absolutely dismissing the possibility or anything, but I remember saying similar things about how he was coming back during Secret Invasion to reunite the superhero community, but it didn't happen. I personally just don't think it'll happen.

I wasn't aware of the Thor crossover, though. When did they leave it open for an easy return, though? Are you talking about that issue where Thor sees Cap's spirit and takes out the satellites for ten minutes?

On what grounds?
Probably the original mini-series, where he was said to fight Galactus off single-handed, and World War Hulk, where literally only his power could match the Hulk's at the Hulk's peak, whereas Thor has a f***ing abysmal record against the Hulk at the Hulk's normal power levels. Granted, I'm not sure how relevant either of those are anymore, given how the Sentry's been presented lately, but on the other hand, it seems Thor with the Odinpower is now pretty much at regular Thor levels, since he's been getting his ass kicked left and right in his own comic, Hulk, and now the FCBD Avengers comic.

Thor 11, Thor calls Steve's spirit forth, and Steve hadn't crossed over yet.
Thor asks,
"and you...you died a warrior's death, you should be welcome in Valhalla. Why does your spirit still linger?"

Steve,
"I don't know...maybe because I never believed in Valhalla."

Thor,
"A warrior's heaven is bought by action, not belief. The stars do not askfor our beliefbefore they smile upon us."

Steve,
"Maybe.
So why have you summoned me?"

And basically it was left there, Thor asks Steve if he wished to be avenged and Steve says no. So you see there IS a way Steve could be returned, AND if he could return a bit more gritty coming through Valhalla, kind of updating Steve to be a bit more gruff. All kinds of possibilities exist.

The Crossover was just announced by JMS in an interview in the Thor thread, Called "Siege of Asgard".

I was with you until the "more gritty" part. Steve doesn't need to be gritty. That's not Captain America.

I'm not saying Ulty Cap. maybe something alittle more relaxed.

Also, MOST recently has been Dark Avengers where he's also been shown as a massive powerhouse, doing a speed blitz kill on LeFay, coming back from apparent death (which he died from a magic attack, a common weakness for powerhouse characters like him), and generally inspiring people to crap themselves at his presence.

Yeah, I know all that, I read the issue. I'm just not sure what you're saying. Are you saying you think Steve will finally ascend to Valhalla and that will lead him back to Earth or something?

Thor should still beat Sentry when the time comes. Sometimes its notjust about power levels. Its not like Thor has never beat people who were stronger than him.

True. I think Thor should beat the Sentry as well, but I'm understandably biased. ;)

Here's something I'd like to see. Thor beating someone stronger based on fighting ability and skill. It would be nice to see thousands of years of fight experience being counted for something. I mean sentry's tough and all, but zero ability, the guy was just a pitiful drug addict for ****'s sake.

Ironically, Thor only shows real fighting ability in Son of Asgard, back when he's still learning how to fight.

How is "relaxed" the same as "gritty"?
More like one of the Asgardians. Relaxed as in NOT like Ulty Cap was in the original Ultimates.
I'd like to see Steve drink once in awhile in other words. In many ways Steve was like Supes, "too good" not that it's a bad thing but it can be boring to some.
I wouldn't want another Frank Castle or Logan but Steve needs a change, he needs to be a hair more aggressive like those two.

That's what I'm thinking will happen, I don't know for a fact it will, but, that whole scene is left open for Steve's return through Valhalla.
As far as we know Valhalla is ON Asgard which isn't too far from Earth these days. lol
You have to figure what's going on now in Dark Reign is probably ticking Steve off enough to try to find a way back through Valhalla.

I really don't see that ad for july leading to a US Agent story since he does wear the black costume, it has to be something more than that.

I doubt we'll see Captain America's return via the conditions set up by Thor. It was a nice scene but you can hedge your bets against that being really paid attention as some sort of guideline for Steve coming back. He'll return either in a big event or in Captain America through the rules and conditions of that story.

Well Dark Reign is far from being over and it IS an Avengers related book, I'm just saying there ARE ways Steve could return weather it's dwelled on or not and this seems to be an opportunity and Thor 11 left a way to do so.
Siege of Asgard, is without a doubt going to be Thor related, and even tho I'd like to see Steve return there, it just does seem to fit with that crossover. Tho I would LOVE to see Steve's Tactical skills lead the way. :D

Can someone explain this Siege of Asgard to me? I've heard of it but I thought it was just going to be a story arc in Thor.

All we know is JMS was "dreading the Crossover Siege of Asgard that loomed ahead of him", that's all we know right now.
We have no idea what books will be involved, what exactly is going to happen or WHERE since most of the Asgardians are in Latveria at the moment.

Here's the Quote,

"Of course, now that the Siege of Asgard Big Crossover Event is looming before me, I have to do some serious and hard thinking about the future."

Ok, I think I got what you're saying now. That could happen I suppose. I'm still putting my money that that teaser ad is just a Dark Caption America

well i hope that thor joins the current captain america with his avengers and that sentry also joins the new avengers too.
maybe its the similarities to supeman but i really like sentry and want him to be cured of his head problems and becomes like marvels superman!
