Best and Worst CGI Ever seen in a movie????

i am legend. the cg in that pretty much made an otherwise ok movie painful to watch.

Have to agree with you on that. The infected humans looked atrocious.

the Balrog in LOTR made my jaw drop. I cant remeber CGI doing that before

That's crazy talk!:cwink:

Anyone see the end of Race to Witch Mountain???

Oh GOD!!! It looked like they ran out of money right in the middle of working on the CGI for a particular scene.

Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen looked amazing; overall I thought the CGI in the movie was pretty great.

The stampede scene in Australia looked a little shaky, but other than that, I thought the movie looked good.

I watched Spider-Man 3 yesterday for the first time since it opened in theaters, and forgot how well a lot of the Sandman stuff turned out. I wonder how much better it could have been if the effects for Venom weren't in the budget.

Best: King kong, POTC: AWE, TDK, Transformers, Star Wars: RoTS

Worst: DB:E, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Death Note(although that adds to it's charm), Van Helsing

Best: The Dark Knight

To which you reply: But it didnt look like CGI

:)

The character notwithstanding, this was still a very well done piece of CG work.

Best:

10. Gladiator (Reed's last scenes were CGI and I still don't know which they were in the movie)

well, really, all they did was paste his head from different shots over a stunt doubles head...and really, when you look for it, its really (almost painfully)obvious. (its in the scene where he lets Maximus out of his cell).

However, I will say that the cgi shots of Rome itself are beautiful.

Much of the shots of Rome are composite. I think the overall aerial shots of the city are miniature work that has been touched up.

I got one, bad cgi scene: the deer* that Llewelyn Moss shoots at the beginning of No Country for Old Men. not terrible but not good enough either

*was it a deer?

No, that is cgi. They did a helicopter pass over the set (which only served as a very small portion of the final shot, used as markers, really), then they created all the buildings and people as cgi components.

Much of the battle at the start of the movie is cgi, too.

I have the collectors set which goes into detail on how the created their cgi shots. Its really good, if you're into that kind of thing, I suggest picking it up.

Really? I don't recall - I'll have to review that scene. (great movie, by the way).

I never actually saw the covenant, and I'm guessing most of you didn't either.
But the CGI work in that movie looked terrible.

Just. . . skip ahead to the end around the 2:22 mark. Yeah. . . that went into theatres.. .
