Best and Worst CGI Ever seen in a movie????

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has got to be some of the best CGI I've seen.

How come demons always have giant mouths?

That movie was a huge misstep in regards to the dark seekers. They were supposed to be intelligent, and could've been done with real actors.

The most depressing thing is the scenes were all shot with real actors...only later in post production the higher-ups decided to replace them all with CG doubles.

The hands on the hips make the image all that better.

This. Can't wait to see what they do in 'War'.

'Avengers' Hulk cg looked great, but he looked terribe in 'AoU'.

Avatar had some amazing CGI, specifically the background, terrain, and technology (weapons, etc.) The CGI for the natives wasn't on the same level, but decent.

I remember seeing The Chronicles of Riddick and thinking it looked as ugly and lifeless as the Star Wars prequels.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is definitely the best.
Worst - I don't know.

Ed Nortons 2008 'Incredible Hulk' had some of the worst CG in the entire MCU.

best, LoTR trilogy, JP.
worst, Indy 4, matrix 2.

YESSS!!!!!!

OMG, how could I forget about this one. I loved the way Mr. Cranky described this in his review:

Bond then rips off the car's hood, drops into the ocean and escapes by surfing away. Unfortunately, it's a little computer-generated James Bond that would have been more realistic-looking had somebody glued Brosnan's face to a popsicle stick and bobbed it up and down behind some blue construction paper.

This is honestly one of the worst things I have ever seen.

Have you ever seen the full movie? It's an atrocity. Although the part with the demon-possessed grandma climbing up the wall like Spider-Man makes it worth watching.

What's a bummer about the cgi mouth being so bad is that he spider limbs were done practically with Doug Jones using custom made stilts.

K-2SO from Rogue One is probably the best CGI I've ever seen in a movie. He's the only fully CGI character I can think of in a movie that looks pretty much flawless, the effects on him never take me out of the movie. There are a lot of good CGI characters, but most of the time it's either an obvious effect or there are a couple poorly rendered shots mixed in. K-2SO is the only character I can think of that's 100% convincing.

As for worst, that's hard because there's a lot of stuff from the early days of CGI that's about on the same level. The 90s version of Jabba from the Star Wars special edition definitely deserves points for being one of the most embarrassing effects ever put to screen. It's especially strange because Jabba looked fine in The Phantom Menace a few years later.

Die Another Day is a definite contender for the worst, I think you have to base the 'best' or 'worst' on the budget available to the film makers.

I think as a 'shaped' character, Gollum has to be a contender for best, or Jackson's King Kong itself (not the 'running to safety' sequence).

Budget, time available to create all the vfx as well as the timeline of movies. In general with each year the vfx of movies have become better so imo to say that “ the vfx of a movie in 2000” sucked compared to a movie released in say 2006 is wrong. Of course generally speaking the vfx will look better . Plus people seem to forget the limitations of vfx tech early on hence the quality of xertain vdx shots. Compared to the work today the cg animal in lost in space looks bad but then again vfx tech wasnt really as good as the stuff ww fot later on.
