Have to go with Steve and Peggy. She cared for him even before he was a hero. She cared about him as a person underneath, not how super he was, but just a good person overall. Then when he has everything it makes it that much more special that they genuinely care for one another. You can't say the same for a lot of these couples. If they weren't heroes they wouldn't be going out with them. Which might be the same for Peggy but she was the first woman to give him a long conversation.

This thread kind of exposed how weak collectively the romantic storylines have been in superhero movies.

I'd actually go with Peter/Gwen from TASM. Their interactions actually seemed natural -- Stone and Garfield have great chemistry (since they're dating I guess that makes sense.)

The character was with Gwen a short time, they became estranged, and then she died. Her death was a major event in the history of the comics, but she never really did much as a character. Some have said the only interesting thing she ever did was die, and it is hard to disagree with them.

That is no comparison to the 40 year history the character has had with MJ. Gwen was dead within eight.

Publication years are not equivalent to the years that pass in the context of the story. Gwen was considered Peter's true love prior to her death and MJ was considered Peter's true love after her death. He would have probably been with Gwen had it not been for her death and to a much lesser extent, for her father's death. That's not to say that he doesn't love MJ just as much as he loved Gwen though or that MJ was just a Plan B. He loved both of them equally. That is one of the interesting things about the Spider-Man mythos. Spidey is, to my knowledge, the only superhero to have had two definitive love interests. The vast majority either had only one (i.e. Lois Lane for Superman) or none (i.e. Batman).

At this current time in the Spider-Man mythos that the film franchise is at, Gwen is Peter's true love and is the woman that he would naturally end up with if. Once again, that is not to say that he will love MJ less or that Peter and MJ won't have as good chemistry as Peter and Gwen did.

If anything, she will be an even more important love interest and leave even a bigger impact in this film franchise than in the comics. Part of the reason why they killed off Gwen in the comics was because they couldn't figure out how to progress their relationship due to the hatred Gwen gained for Spider-Man. It had gotten to the point where it affected her relationship with Peter as well. It doesn't look like that will play a factor in the movies.

This was a close three-way tie for me. Pepper Potts/Tony, Peggy Carter/Steve, and Gwen Stacy/Peter. All three are some of the best of the best in terms of romance IMO, but I ended up giving the edge to Peggy Carter and Steve just because it managed to be really heartbreaking after Steve was trapped in the ice. So far, the other couples didn't have that heart breaking moment...though Gwen Stacy might top it in TASM2.

I am not gonna lie. MJ and Peter was the only one that really irritated me.

1. Peter and Gwen (Tasm)
2. Bruce and Betty (TIH)
3. Tony and Pepper (IM)

the other ones are meh and Peter/MJ from are for me by far the worst couple in any movie, not just comic book ones.

and why no X-Men couples in the poll? and Blake Lively/Ryan Reynolds from Green Lantern? :funny:

Gotta say, my personal fav from the movies is Steve/Peggy from the first Cap film.

That being said, my favorite couple might be Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher.

Don't know why that show gets such bad reviews, but Teri was as hot as hot can be!

Just my opinion

Reeves/Kidder as Superman and Lois
Downey Jr./Paltrow as Stark and Potts

I think these two are in a category all their own, the others pale by comparison to me, although honorable mention to Ben Affleck - Jennifer Garner and Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. Don't get me wrong those movies sucked but both couples ended up marrying so that has to account for something.

Jennifer Connely and Eric Bana were a good couple for me. Peter/Gwen and Tony/Pepper are the top two though

I liked Mariko and Logan. Though I'm not entirely sure they are anything close to being "the best" though.

Probably a toss up between these three :

Logan & Jean
Peter and Gwen
Tony & Pepper.

Logan & Jean really is heartbreaking when watching X3, and the path they took with TW was great. Peter and Gwen were the most natural CBM couples, and Tony/Pepper are great, and the moments in Iron Man/Iron Man 3 were great, especially where Pepper puts on the helmet and hears Tony's message (Brian Tyler's score really did wonders too). Other good ones are Steve & Peggy, the fact that we'll never see that fleshed out is a shame, and I did like Logan/Kayla in Wolverine.

Gwen and Peter - It felt real, because it is real.

Wow, this poll just shows how awful the romance sub-plots are in superhero films. Not a single one of those impressed me.

Anyway I voted Superman and Lois (STM). Unlike most of the others it isn't awful. Stark and Potts is defiantly the most believable relationship, but I hate Potts so I couldn't vote for it. Rodgers and Peggy was also decent but I feel Supes/Lois edges it out. The rest though were terrible, specifically the Thor/Foster one.

I felt their relationship was really dry honestly.

I felt their relationship was really dry honestly.

Disagree, but honestly There's much worse on this poll. Thor and Natalie portman belong together just as much as a recovering Robert Downey Jr belong's with a heroine addict.

I think the only worse one on the poll is Bruce and Rachel. Mariko just had a lot more chemistry with the archer guy that there was nothing substantial with Wolvie.

I'll add

Bruce & Betty in HULK (2003), they had a good strained relationship.
Bobby & Rogue in X2, great romance and passion that was constantly cock-blocked by Rogues powers

Yyyyeeeaaah no it doesn't. I like that movie but the romance in that movie was beyond forced. At least between Scott and Ramona.

I would agree with you on Scott/Ramona (maybe that's why I love it),but I did love the Scott/Knives relationship, and I kinda enjoy both more than the other ones on this list.(Well besides the kinda odd age difference between Scott and Knives)

You could also make a case For Young Neil/Knives.

Pssh, Wallace and every one of Stacey's boyfriends should be on the list. :o

Whatever,we all know it's about Ramona and the Katayanagi Twins. They had great chemistry.
