Best Ending

The Matrix had a cool ending, Neo shooting skywards with the Rage Against The Machines tune. After, I knew i had just watched one of the greatest movies ever. Still is....

Taxi driver had a great ending with travis mysteriously adjusting rear view mirror.

I like Jurassic Park, with the helicopter flying towards the sunset with John Williams' score. da da daa daa daa, da da daa daa daa...

Yeah, the music really made the scene just that more kick-ass.

- Halloween. From the point where Dr. Loomis looks out on the balcony and sees that Michael's body is gone, and the different shots of the surrounding setting adding the 'where's Michael?' feeling, with the music playing. Sheer brilliance.

- Bobby had a great ending too. It really gave you a feeling of the loss on that day.

- Rocky has one of the most uplifting closes to a movie I've seen. When the music hits and the crowd starts chanting his name , it gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.

Aliens had a kick-@ss ending with the Queen/Powerloader battle. Bishop gets ripped in half, Newt almost gets grabbed by the Queen, "Get away from her, you b***h!"...good times.

Makes me sad that they butchered Starship Troopers so badly. :(

You know what, I just recently bought it on DVD and the ending of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is really beautiful.

It totally took me by surprise in the cinema as I expected Judgement Day to be stopped again but when John Connors and Sarah Bruster start hearing the cries for help on the radio in that bunker, then the beautiful score starts and we see the missiles being fired - it's just a gorgeous sequence, really emotional and a really somber and melodramatic way to end the movie. Powerful stuff!

I agree. I loved the ending. It was unexpected. Other great endings for me were:

V For Vendetta - It was a powerful conclusion.
X2 - The Phoenix in the water scene was exciting.
The Sixth Sense - Nuff said.
Batman Begins - The Joker card
The Matrix
Unbreakable - Took my by surprise
Children of Men - Really, the whole film was amazing, and the ending was so somber, yet there was hope.

/agree

To me one of the best endings in a movie or at least that i can remember as of this moment. Then Ending of Saw,I just about droped a load when I saw Jiggs get up off the floor, and seeing Adams expression was priceless..
Also, I think Sixth Sence/village(okay,this maybe stretching it,but Im easily amused), had good endings..

really i thought both of films you mentioned were two of the most easy twists to fiqure out. the gun would have complete destroyed his head rather than the wound on the back of his head and once the cop says he likes to be near his victums it was easy

also anyone with eyes would notice that no one but the kids looks at or interacts with bruce so it kinda obvious

The Matrix
Raiders of the Lost Ark (warehouse filled with government secrets and ancient artifacts)
Seven (what's in the box!)
Superman The Movie (pissed off Supes breaks the laws of space and time to save Lois :supes:)
Glory (powerful moment)
Vanilla Sky
Braveheart
Artificial Intelligence
Fight Club

Scarface, you don't get much better than Pacino going out in a blaze of bullets like a true warrior

The Usual Suspects- An obvious favrioute for it's clasic twist ending.

Fight Club- Wonderfully done.

HEAT- An underrated ending in my opinion with DeNiro and Pacino's storylines both coming to a climax quite a ending.

The Godfather part II- The powerful ending it's so simple yet powerful.

Pulp Fiction- Just the way it was stylized.

Batman Begins- As a fan it was such a epic thing.

Not to mention he had a giant shotgun just to take down one guy from behind no less!

I agree. I forgot about that ending. I remember the score during the missles reminded me of a church song, "taste and see".
(Nobody will know what I'm talking about)

The Prestige
Taxi Driver
The Departed
Se7en
Star Wars (Original Trilogy)
Batman Begins
Casino Royale
Children of Men
X2: X-Men United

Just to name a few off the top of my head

300 end speech
superman returns
pans labyrynth
rocky balboas ending.."we did it adrian" at her grave
braveheart

White Heat has a hell of an ending.

For a few dollars more is very high in the list for most badass final shot. Clint riding off with a cart full of corpses

Good lawd a lot of recent movies are in this thread.

whoever said planet of the apes, you owned everyone else's choices.

See the true ending of Butterfly Effect, definitely gives the film a much better and darker quality.

He goes back and prevents himself from ever being born.

Too bad the test audiences had to screw that up by writing that they didn't like it. It was a very risky and amazing move.

Um... that ending just seems better and deeper cause well... someone died and it also has the shock value of

it was the main character preventing his own birth

That is basically a cheap trick to make it better. The best ending to Butterfly Effect is the one attached to the movie...

He bumps into her on the street and they both look happy and successful. They get a little weird feeling and each look back (without the other seeing). Then Ashton in his best acting moment shows how much it pained him to not run after her.

That's the better one.

My faves are: The Ussual Suspects. I totally didn't see that coming at all. Amazing! Sixth Sense. If you went in spoiler free, I guarantee you had two inch goose bumps when the final reveal was made. Shawshank was great because it was built up through out the film in bits and after the reveal, you think damn what a clever guy. How about Memento? Here's a movie that you had no idea where or how it is going, and by the end eveything makes sense. All of these movies I ended up watching multiple times and still enjoy them.

I thought that the Last Samurai had a great ending. Just watching Watanabe needing help to kill himself was moving.

i really enjoyed the ending to pet semetary. i think if someone had just lost his family he wouldn't care and do exactly what he did.

I also enjoyed the ending to night of the dead. The underlying racism of killing the protagonist was genius.

Letters From Iwo Jima

On the island of Iwo Jima, they dig out a bag full of the letters written by the Japanese soldiers. It gives us a full circle effect, a wow effect, and a this all happend effect. The music playing during this is very well done.

Die Hard. Everybody in that movie got what they deserved.
