Best Ending

Silent Hill, by far. Mysterious, and leaves room for a sequel without being an outright cliffhanger.

The Prestige, Spider-Man 3, and Pan's Labyrinth are all tied for second place.

Yeah, I love it when every major character cries like giant, sopping vaginas. It was awesome.

I really liked the ending to What Dreams May Come, Matchstick Men, and the Departed. I agree with a lot of the others posted, too.

Letters From Iwo Jima

On the island of Iwo Jima, they dig out a bag full of the letters written by the Japanese soldiers. It gives us a full circle effect, a wow effect, and a this all happend effect. The music playing during this is very well done.
I haven's seen either Letters from Iwo Jima or Flags of our Fathers (I would love to though). Is that where the two films are connected to each other, through the letters?
Do the actors from one movie appear in the other?

i think all the x-men films had amazing final scenes...

1. xavier and eric prison

2. pheonix in water

3. eric moving the chess piece

Giant, sopping vaginas? Kudos on the brilliant word choice, sir.

Throughly agree on The Departed, espically the final shot of the rat on the rail with the justice building in the background.

It's Scorcese, of course he has a brilliant ending.

I think only one actor is seen in both movies, but I am not sure who.

The Letters were used for telling the Japanese side of the story. Flashbacks from the soldier sent to get people to buy war bonds in America (since they were in the famous Iwo Jima picture) tell the story of that movie.

When you watch one, you can picture events of the other happening (such as the American soldiers wondering why the Japanese were not firing immediately, and the Japanese ones sitting in hiding waiting for their orders). Both movies make a wonderful whole.

Scarface
The Godfather part II
Batman Begins
LOTR: Return of the King
Casino Royale
The Departed
Spider-Man 1 & 2
Superman
Batman Returns
Fight Club

No particular order.

You know what, I just recently bought it on DVD and the ending of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is really beautiful.

It totally took me by surprise in the cinema as I expected Judgement Day to be stopped again but when John Connors and Sarah Bruster start hearing the cries for help on the radio in that bunker, then the beautiful score starts and we see the missiles being fired - it's just a gorgeous sequence, really emotional and a really somber and melodramatic way to end the movie. Powerful stuff!

I agree, the score at the end is great.I also agree that Dawn of the Dead(NEW) had a good ending.

Yeah, too bad John Connor is a little ninny when the world needs a great leader.

I like a lot of the ones mentioned so far, so I'm going to list 2-3 thats not be listed I believe.

I really was into the end of Armaggedon. Bruce's face up on that big screen infront of Liv, I guess the reason I liked this one is it played with my emotions and made me think of what it would feel like to be him and knowing as soon as I pushed that button I'd be dead.

I also enjoyed the ending of Scream 1. Took me by surprise it had two killers and one was her boyfriend who had been 100% cleared earlier in the movie. Thought it was good.

and the last one is The Illusionist, I know probably everyone on here saw that ending coming, but I didn't. It was late, I was sleepy, Jessica Biel was being hot as always, so I never saw that ending coming.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon has one amazing ending IMO, she says something like "make a wish" and jumps off :(

T2 " " is classic

Braveheart

T3 had a great ending, just a shame they completely f**ked up everything the first 2 movies were saying, it went from "you can change the future " to "you're f**ked"

Collateral had IMO a good ending

Vanilla Sky is one of my favs, great ending, great music, just perfect ending

The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three and Peformance both have pretty genius endings. With killer final shots.

I notice a lot of love for The Usual Suspects. I don't like the twist myself. It is too much a twist for the sake of a twist. Your twist shouldn't negate the rest of the movie, and that is exactly what The Usual Suspects does.

Aliens.

The originals ending was great as well:

Raiders of th lost ark
T2
Batman begins=joker card
Gladiator
tAXI DRIVER
BUT I THINK THE FIRST PLACE GOES TO THE FIRST GODFATHER
Michael getting "baptized" as the new godfather as the door closes.
Honorary mentions go to titanic and E.T

The Hulk. I was extremely pleased that it was finally over. :o

I do like the ending of the original Planet of the apes

If you are talking endings that just left you so surprised and impacted that you have to sit there for a moment to wrap your mind around what you have just watched for the last 2 hours....then this is now and forever the King.
