Only because of the outstanding use of symbolism that is brought forth as Bane, the figurehead and puppet to Talia, slowly deflates in front of Batman as well as the audience. Goodness, even the hissing sound that emits from Bane's mask was employed to reveal him as a somewhat air-filled (or in this case, love-filled) mannequin or dummy. Not to mention what a wonderful contradiction of power roles is displayed throughout the first half of the film in comparison to the scene following the fight where his mask is lovingly put back together by the true mastermind.
Such tact in this fight scene. Really, it must be celebrated.
Agreed it was a great follow up, but damn it needed to be a little bit longer to take over the first fight for me. But still an epic end fight without a doubt.
Are we wrong for enjoying Batman getting his back broken?
I am going to be completely honest here. I saw it three times, and every time, I had a smile on my face.
I am not an "huge" comic book fan. But Batman has been my favorite since I was 4 years old. I never thought I would smile at my favorite superhero getting his back broken.

Same thing here. I've seen it six (I think six) times and that fight never gets old. My memory of other fights might be rusty, but I think it might be the first time that we see Batman actually in trouble in a fight. His calculated hits aren't working, his wild punches aren't working, and even his gadgets fail him. NOTHING works. Or I should say, it all works, it just doesn't stop Bane.
I must say, probably my favorite part is right at the beginning when Bane catches Batman's punch, gives him a sort of "measuring" look and then says "Peace has cost you your strength. Victory has defeated you." A very polite way of saying "B**ch please, is that the best you can do?"

No. We can like whatever we want to. The first fight was one of the best moments of the entire movie for me. As a fan of Knightfall - part one especially, I appreciated seeing that scene come to life in live action. I didn't expect to see the back break takedown (I didn't need to) but it was a nice bonus. People love the moment because its rich with humanity and vulnerability, the seemingly invincible Batman meeting his match.
The first Batman/Bane fight (batbreaker). Bats made the same mistake in the film that he made in he comics. He fought a far superior opponent head on and paid a price. Alfred even told him not to do it in the movie but he didnt listen. Then again Bats was tricked into that confrontation though.
This is my first post. I will define 'fight scene' differently, as I believe that that the whole context must be taken into consideration.
All in all, I liked BB and TDK (both great movies) considerably better than TDKR.
TDKR was just not up to the old standard.
The best action scene of the Trilogy was in TDK. I like 5 fight scenes in particular:
1. The Big Chase scene with the Swat convoy getting ambushed by the Joker 's forces. Then the great Batman appears And the 'hit me' scene at the very end was just magnficient:
2. Batman V Ras Al Ghul and LOS- Gliding down over Gotham, fighting 4 ninjas, and facing Raz. Surrounded by crazed people, then Monorail, then Raz duel. Just wondering the whole time: How did they film it!? A long, excellent sequence.
3. Batman V SWAT team/Jokers henchmen/ vs Joker- The final battle scene in TDK. A strong scene with an explosive conclusion with the Joker.
4. Batman V Russian/Scarecrow/Imposters/Big Dogs!! (TDK first fight): A lot of different 'sides', and very epic to watch Batman at a night's work.
7. Bruce's Ninja Test, Induction Ceremony, Duel vs. Fake Raz
8. Batman V Chinese bodyguards (Honk Kong scrap)
9. Batman vs. Bane Part 1- Borderline Scary, and devastating.
The rest of the scenes, I can't rate as I believe that they were all marginal or too short.
Bruce V Prisoners (mud fight)
Bruce V Duccard (Frozen Ice sword fight)
Batman V Dock drug smugglers (First Batman fight)
Batman V Scarecrow and gang
Batman V Joker (Interrogation scene) "WHERE ARE THEY!!"
Batman V Joker/Thugs ("Then your gonna love me!")
Batman V Joker "Here we....GO!"
Batman/Catwoman V Daggerts/Bane's men on rooftop
Batman V Bane (Round 1 Bat-breaker!!)
Batman/Robin V Bane's goons
Batman V Bane (Round 2 - Revenge of the Bat!)
I liked the Batman vs. Bane fight, but it was far too short, and there wasn't enough variety. It was just a brutal beatdown. Batman didn't last too long. But the the back-dislocating just sealed it as unforgettable so I have to include it in my top 9. It was a jaw-dropping moment.
TDKR's had weak fight scenes besides this and the stock market. The final scene on Wall Street was just weak. I was expecting something amazing- the apex of TDKR, but the whole battle was poorly shot, and lasted just a few minutes...not even, really.
The subsequent chase scene was a bunch of typical CGI stuff- unlike the Monorail in begins I already lost faith in Nolan's Act 3 so my emotional investment was not quite there.
A) He only had so much time
B) The doctor in the Lazarus Pit told him Bane's weakness and Batman knows that he'll only be protecting that one area so he'll have to strike quickly
C) Batman is pissed
D) All of the above

"Take me to Bane."
(Catwoman takes Batman to Bane)
"You're making a serious mistake..."
WTF?!?! Did he think after everything he knew about Bane, especially who he trained under, did he seriously think he was going to walk in there, shake hands, and call it a truce?
"Take me to Bane...oh s**t, he looked smaller in that motorcycle get up, LET ME OUT!"
It's probably more that he planned to sneak in, assess the area, and strategically take him on. Batman's skills are best used in an open area, not a claustrophobic catwalk.
The way it was shot, from the fact that it had no music, made all the more real. The fact that Catwoman had to watch, just a bonus. Amazing scene all around.

After the first fight I couldn't wait to see Batman get his 2nd shot at Bane....and Bats giving Bane permission to die, literally made the movie for me
Bane vs Batman round 1, hands down. It encompasses everything I've enjoyed about Nolan's trilogy, (dialogue, cinematography, editing, music/lack-there-of) as well as having awesome little nods to the comics. It's such a powerful scene, and one of my favorite in the entire series.
I complete agree with everything you've said. That scene was just perfect! There were many excellent fight scenes in Nolan's trilogy but what really made this scene stand out to me was the look on Selina's face. While she was watching Batman getting beaten down you could just see how much she regretted her decision! It showed not only her vulnerability, but her affections for Batman as well, despite the fact that she was pretending to be tought and nor caring. It was a very touching moment.
P.S I really liked the scenes where Selina was walking through the tunnels and Batman was just clearing her way! That should've been in the poll too :P
