While it's signifcantly flawed, Avatar was my favorite film experience this year; I haven't had that much fun in a theater since my single digits. I don't know how to put it -- it obviously wasn't the best, but definitely my favorite....if that makes any sense.

For films thatI saw I would put it like this

1. (500) Days of Summer- I know this maybe a shocker to many, but I enjoyed this film a little bit more than the rest. It was an original, smart and wasn't shy to hurt your feelings. Great film and very underrated. I do hope this gets a nominee for "Best Original Screenplay" Great film!

2. District 9 - The film I literally knew the least about this year. I've seen Neill Bloomkamps work before this in the short films and when it was annouced he would be directing "Halo"I was more than excited ever. Sadly he never got to direct Halo...instead he gave us "District 9", Which is one film that truly stands on its own as a sci-fi film and film in general. Great film!

3. Avatar - James Cameron 12 year return to the big screen was a great return. I must say it's visual a great film and as many have said it lacks in the story..but for me it didnt kill the movie at all.

4. UP - The people of PIXAR have done it again. UP is one of there best films and the great part about this film is that it makes you feel happy, sad, and realizing that in life you can have any adventure whether it's going to paradise falls or being married.

5. Star Trek - The surprise of the year for me. I literaly went into this film with no prior knowledge of Star Trek and once I left the theater....I really wanted to learn about the history of Star Trek! The film was amazing! It was a great Reboot to start this franchise off again and J.J Abrams really just nailed it. This and Batman Begins go down as the best reboots of the last decade.

Now...it terms of Score.

I do like James Horner.....BUT Michael Giaachinos score for "UP" is much better.

"Avatar" had a good score...don't get me wrong....But the thing with Michael Giacchino is that....his score for "UP"...it gives another level of emotion to an already great film.

Best film of 2009: Star Trek
Worst film of 2009: Dragonball Evolution
Underrated film of 2009: Observe and Report
Actor of the year: Christoph Waltz-Inglourious Basterds
Actress of the year: Melanie Laurent-Inglourious Basterds
Director of the year: Neill Blomkamp-District 9
