Best / Worst of 2009

Honestly...G.I. Joe, Wolverine and Terminator all had some pretty decent to awesome action sequences. I can't call them complete crap by any means because of that.

Transformers 2 was just a mess all around.

let's end the negative whirlwind and get positive for a bit.....I did not expect to enjoy State of Play but I did...same with Star Trek (as I had never really gotten into Trek)

Haven't seen State of Play but I definitely agree with Star Trek. My biggest surprise of the year.

Falling for the girls cons? It only happened twice.

The girls double crossed them several times. When they first met and got their guns, when they took their car, etc...

It was becoming rather annoying.

and that was it....there is no etc....it happened twice....i wasn't aware twice = several times

Yea... twice.

Then they pretended to at the end, but were only joking.

For me, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen was a very well-made movie, all around entertaining, great characters, good action, good emotions and everything
Top of 2009 together with Avatar and Star Trek

all of Wolverine was bad....what made it worse was that one of my really good friends (who knows ZERO about comics or X-men) loves the movie and can't understand why I don't
It's the same thing that happened with Batman & Robin, most non-comic book readers liked it more, their excuse because it had more action and Arnold's star power.

Best score/music: The Box by Win Butler, Régine Chassagne and Owen Pallett.

if you go into a movie about giant robots expecting good acting, you have larger issues

ah that's why I didn't go in. Well, actually I didn't go in because Michael Bay is a hack (not from a technical standpoint, but as a storyteller) and I hated the first one. This is supposed to be much much worse.

But you're argument is the same many would have made when Schumaucher's Batman movies came out. "If you expected good acting, narrative or characters from a movie about superheroes and a guy dressed as a bat, you have issues."

Mind you I"m not sure you could ever take Transformers that seriously, but if you settle for crap because Hollywood thinks they get away with it, all you get is crap like Transformers, GI Joe, Terminator 4 and Wolverine during the summers, then.

hack gets misused on the Hype a lot...so let me take this time to clarify...the term should be used to indicate someone who knowingly copies someone elses work and tries to copy it as their own...with Michael Bay (quality of his films aside) this is not the case at all....actually most of the techniques and equipment that he developed or uses in his action films have been adopted throught the action genre

to address the other meaning of "hack" which is someone who is involved in a said business strictly for commercial success but has indicated otherwise...from what I have seen in interviews, Michael Bay has never claimed that his films were art or would change the world, he enjoys doing action movies and enjoys the benefits that his occupation provides him
