Beware the Batman

I like the fight choreography, and I think overall the 2 eps aired show a more than competent Batman.

As for the gun thing... BTAS came out in 1992 correct? Gang/drug related "drive by" shootings were in the news a lot in that period. Did'nt stop Gordon and Bullock and Montoya from carrying sidearms then.

i thought Katana was just going to be a randomly thrown in character, but i like that it's not the case. she actually has a history with Alfred and it seems that Bruce has taken an interest in her judging by last episode's final scene.

I watched the first two Episodes on youtube.

Barbara is the Batman fangirl while Tatsu thinks Batman (at this point) is a nut.

Batman's new voice actor did seem very Conroy-esque in episode 2.

Especially when he's talking to Magpie in the opening scene.

I wasn't sure about Magpie prior to watching this, but I ended up really enjoying her. The split-personality thing added a nice bit of depth, and I liked that we got some information about her past. People are calling her a "poor man's Catwoman" but, in my opinion, this version of Magpie is way more interesting than any incarnation of Catwoman. And it's always a delight to hear Grey DeLisle, though I will say that my one problem with the episode is that it was a little too obvious that "Cassie" was indeed Magpie, seeing as Grey voiced both of them.

We also got to see more of Lt. Gordon. Though the CGI model looks weird (he seriously needs to lose weight), writing-wise I like what they've done with him. Batman disappearing while Gordon was talking was great. Seeing the animosity between the two was a nice departure from what's familiar, and somewhere down the line this relationship will develop into what we all know and love. Kurtwood Smith sounds pretty good as him, too.

The brief glimpse of Barbara Gordon was nice, and it was cool that Tara Strong came back to voice her.

My favorite scene was Bruce investigating Ravencroft's office. We've got the key with the ARGUS symbol; that's definitely coming back in the future. Bruce looking at the watch followed by a cut to the guy at the beginning of the episode with a missing watch was a pretty cool bit. But what were they doing in Ravencroft's desk? Were they planted there by Magpie/"Cassie" without her knowing, or maybe Ravencroft's not so innocent after all.

Anthony Ruivivar is growing on me as Batman, and, now that I've heard more, Sumalee Montano sounds pretty good as Tatsu.

Another good episode. Next week seems to be a Katana-focused one, should be awesome.

great episode imo. I found it a lot better than the 1st and really showed a young batman learning the way.

Absolutely love the detective work and intelligence this Bruce Wayne shows. The end fight scene where he uses the environment to come out on top was great.

This show is so ****ing amazing and Grey DeLisle was absolutely fantastic as Magpie.

I must say... I loved ''Secrets''.

-I love Anthony Ruivivar (People always say Bruce Greenwood should be Kevin Conroy's successor, but I'm thinking this guy.)
-I love JB Blanc and his version of Alfred
-I love the new Gordon
-I love the animation style
-And i LOVE the serialized storytelling.

Magpie was very interesting. I think it all got a tad convoluted near the end with her multiple personality thing but for the most part it was very entertaining.

Grey DeLisle did a great job. Although when I first heard Kurtwood Smith as Gordon, I couldn't help but think of Agent Bennett.

the serialized stuff is doing wonders so far. I'm sure it will help the show to have its own voice.

Watched both episodes and thoroughly enjoyed them. Another great interpretation of the Batman, and this series has opened doors for new interpretations of the rogues gallery. I know I'm jumping the gun and this is far off, but I can't WAIT to see The Joker come into play.

The animation is unique and effective, along with the voice acting. I love the little changes to the mythos (mainly Alfred) and it's cool that Batman and Gordon are not really allies yet. My one big gripe is Katana, and you know why? Swap her out for Dick Grayson and we'd have had a refreshing take on the Robin character that wouldn't be contrived or cheesy. Think about it. Keep everything the same -- Katana's history with Alfred, getting hired as Wayne's bodyguard, Bruce "testing" her, and then later (as we know will happen) trusting her and letting her into his world of secrets -- but swap her out for Robin. It would have been such a good twist on the Robin character, so color me disappointed about that.

I'm not sure we'll see the Joker, Robin or the traditional rogues gallery for a very long time if the reports are true on focusing on the less well known characters.

I do like the animation being reminiscent of The Animated Series and yet also distinctive in its own right.

Eh, I'll bet we see him by the end of the second season, which is still a long ways away. The lesser known villain thing will be cool, but that'll only take them so far. Even Mr. Toad was already pretty stupid.

Agreed on everything. I can't believe how much I'm enjoying this show.

This show is surprising me with how good it is. I still hate most of the designs, but the movements look good and the writing is pretty solid. The voices are also great, especially Batman's. He sounds a lot like Conroy to me.

I like the show. I think the new guy is a great Batman too. But honestly, I don't hear it. And I've been playing clips from Beware the Batman and Batman TAS side by side.

It's been a while since I've watched B:TAS, but the first episode was the first time I heard the new guy's voice. I didn't watch promos or anything before the premiere, and the first thing I thought was "that sounds more like Conroy than I expected."

I hear subtle differences between his Bruce and Batman too, which I think someone said they couldn't. Bruce just sounds...softer and nicer.

His voice was clearly different when speaking with Tatsu. He displayed a warmth and lightness in his voice.

to me, he sounds more like Jeremy Sisto in the new frontier animated movie. He's very different from Conroy, but he manages to have several different tones to his voice.

Nah... Sisto was just gruff for gruffness sake. He didn't put any life into his performance.

Ruivivar sounds so more nuanced and textured.

Sisto worked for the Batman of that era, IMO. But I agree, Ruivivar is better.

All of them work for the version they portray.

Well... I would argue that Sisto and McKenzie didn't quite deliver.

But apart from them, I've loved most of the Batman voice actors. Hell, I even loved Rino Romano and he was very vanilla.

I've got a feeling that this series will show Batman rise from small time villains to his famous Rogue Gallery, like I foresee the season 1 finale will either introduce his first encounter with The Joker or another famous villain first encounter that will cause season 2 to be the bigger season.
