Beware the Batman

I saw the first episode today again and decided to see if I'd like it more. I liked it even less. Especially Pyg. Don't use him if you're just going to make him an eco terrorist. Use someone else that's closer to that.

I watched the first epsisode in disgusted silence, but yhat feeling went away as I continued to watch. So far, it's okay. I will continue to watch the series if it can keep my interest.

Comic Book characters remain strong as they can be taken to so many directions. Why are fans so okay with various incarnations of the Joker (you know, because he's 73 years old) but a character that is 2-3 years old *has* to remain on that 1 incarnation.

Well, truth be told, they could have just used Ivy if they wanted an activist nutjob type. I like the show but their ground rules are pretty stupid. They choose to change Professor Pyg because they want to do the lesser known villains thing.

I'm completely fine about that, sometimes change for sake of change is a good thing.

That's a shallow assessment of both characters. Maybe they wanted a specific characterization BEYOND just an eco-terrorist (even though both fight for DIFFERENT goals) that Ivy couldn't have?

I've got a feeling that this series will show Batman rise from small time villains to his famous Rogue Gallery, like I foresee the season 1 finale will either introduce his first encounter with The Joker or another famous villain first encounter that will cause season 2 to be the bigger season.

That's kinda what Arkham Origins is doing too right?

They're supposedly hinting at the league of assassins this season. I could see Katana going to Ra's Ah Ghul

Perhaps,I was being too shallow in my assessment. I hope they flesh out Professor Pyg and Mr. Toad more.

How wrong is it that I thought Magpie was hot?

Nah... Sisto was just gruff for gruffness sake. He didn't put any life into his performance.

Ruivivar sounds so more nuanced and textured.

Well, Batman's dialogue in New Frontier didn't really require any outright emotion; most of it was expository "Point A to Point B" type dialogue, as opposed to Red Hood where the character was placed in more personal situations that drew him out of his default stoic gruffness.

I really like this show, just saw the second episode and magpie is hot and a freak lol. I really like batman's voice he sounds kool and serious I always trust Andrea as the voice coordinator for DC animation. So do you guys think that Anarky is working for Augurs (if that's the spelling), or is the A on his chest just a coincidence?

Some info from Comic-Con:

*No plans for Joker, Robin, or Catman.

CATMAN?!?
Didn't know he was a heavy hitter although Simone did wonders with Blake during her SECRET SIX run.
Personally I have always liked Catman. Enjoyed his two appearances on
B:TB&TB.

Of Course, I assume it should be CATWOMAN

MAGPIE episode was good. 'B'.
Did notice a few butt shots. :woot:

Because this incarnation is so bland and bears little resemblance to the comic counterpart. This easily could have been Ivy. I'm fine with new takes on characters (Mr. Freeze is the best example) but when you take a good villain and then just make them uninteresting and bear very little resemblance to the actual character, just no. Changes can work. I felt Bane in TDKR worked and that was a rather large departure in terms of backstory (I felt his core was still there though). Freeze, obviously, was a big departure in BTAS and that was amazing. Characters have had much more depth added throughout the years that wasn't there originally. But, this just isn't anything like Pyg and, in my opinion, doesn't change the character in a good way.

Not really, no.

How so? An eco terrorist wanting revenge on people because a land deal destroyed a swamp. Get rid of Toad, replacing the hunting gun with plants and you basically have Ivy. They have the same kind of motivations, humans damaging nature, and decide to take revenge on the people that do. Only real difference is methods.
