Why arent more studios making movies based on the bible. They have a built in audience and fact or fiction have many good stories. Think about genesis,lucifers rebellion, noahs flood, the rise and fall of the tribes isreal. These stories have all the elements to create great movies.

personally, i wouldn't have much interest in seeing any hardcore biblical movie. senior year theology ruined any chance of me havin an interest of a movie literally taken out of the bible.

i have full hopes that the nativity bombs.

Lucifer's rebellion was never covered in the Bible besides his messing with Adam and Eve. What it entailed has always been up to the speculation of whoever's writing. Some depict it as a full on war in heaven, while others simply have Lucifer going up to God and saying "**** you, I quit."

There making a new biblical movie with Kiesha Castle Hughs. Its called The Nativity. Its do out around christmas this year. most likely on limit release like her Whale Rider film.

I would love to see a big budgeted 10 commandments done. No i don't mean a cartoon or a made for tv version. I mean look at the Passion Of The Christ and the fictional tale of The Da Vinci Code. Church and biblical stuff are still popular.

The best biblical movies have to be these.
The 10 Commandments.
Samson and Dhalia.
The Bible.
The Robe.
Judge Law.

I think there is definately some potential in movies with biblical themes. I am actually finishing up my second draft of a screenplay about the fall of Lucifer from Heaven, and since it technically isn't in the bible, I would almost classify it as "Christian Mythology", but it draws heavily form biblical passages (as well as other famous works like the Divine Comedy).

The ony problem I see with many of these stories, is that if you are making them just to tell a great story based off the bible, that many religous groups would be up in arms about some of the stories saying "so-and-so is portrayed wrong" and whatnot.
