The walls of Jericho couldn't be the whole movie, but perhaps as a part of the movie about the conquest of Canaan.
There's one other Bible story you didn't mention: David and Goliath. I know we've have VERY similar stories LIKE that over the course of the history of film, but maybe someone could do a new take on it? I'd like to see a more interesting backstory to Goliath, maybe flesh the character out a little and give him a MOTIVATION for his actions. What do you guys think?
Like I said, I'd like to see the entire story of King David. Everyone knows the story of David and Goliath, but people never seem to focus on the rest of his story, which is just as interesting as seeing a teenage boy killing a 10 foot tall warrior with just a sling.
I would love to see more Biblical movies. Religious beliefs aside, there are some great stories.
"WHY AREN'T THERE ANYMORE 'BIBLICAL' movies being made?" Because Hollywood is full of heathen liberals?
Over the years there have been re-makes upon re-makes of old movies; except for the biblical ones (Jesus flicks excluded). I'm really surprised there has never been a re-make of The Ten Commandments or such...then there are other great stories in the Bible that would make great movies:
Samson
The Book of Job
King David
The Walls of Jerico
.............to name but a few.
Is Hollywood scared to touch these stories? There's definitely a market for it. The Passion of The Christ proved that.
Your thoughts.....
Well, in all honesty that's true. Look no further at Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ for proof.
A lot of people mention that Hollywood is scared to touch these and other religious films because they are controversial and touchy and it divides people.
Actually, Hollywood makes films pertaining to the Bible and Christian religion all the time. Legion, Constantine, Prophecy, Dogma, etc. etc.
The problem is they don't mind making a film relating to the Bible and religion as long as they can put their own spin on it, no matter how completely inaccurate it is according to the Bible or offensive it might be to Christians and their faith.
When they are presented with a fairly accurate film accroding to the Bible, they say no no.
I believe non-Christians can enjoy a movie about the faith, just as I can enjoy a movie that has nothing to do with religion.
O.k, let me touch on this; i agree with your points.....................but, when did the Bible become soley a Christian book? All the films suggested in this thread have been from the Old Testament. No one on here has suggested anything from the New Testament - which would then make it Christian based movie. From Adam and Eve, through Moses to Job and Samson; all these a shared and believed by both Jews, Muslims and Christians alike. The main thing that seperates them is the inclusion of the Prophet Mohammed and Jesus as The Son of God. So, i don't see why eveyone keeps saying Christians will be offended when they're not the only ones who believe in the Old testament events....![]()
^But it's virtually certain that any film base on the OT would not be of any of the prophetic/poetic books but rather of the historical(some believe) ones. They're not going to make a Psalms or Lamentations movie.
I wasn't real clear. I mentioned in my post "pertaining to the Bible " to sum it up as a whole instead of actually saying the old testament.
"pertaining to the Bible AND the Christian religion" = old testament and new testament.
But to be nitpicky, Jesus is prophesied in the old testament![]()
That's what Christians think-ONLY. The Muslims don't believe those prophesy were about Jesus, nor do the Jews-who are still waiting for the Messiah. The OT as a stand alone big book is neither pro-Christian, Jew or Muslim.
Like I said, I'd like to see the entire story of King David. Everyone knows the story of David and Goliath, but people never seem to focus on the rest of his story, which is just as interesting as seeing a teenage boy killing a 10 foot tall warrior with just a sling.
You obviously missed the entire point of my last post. I'm not going to get into a Bible debate, which this thread isn't about.
