Big Threads To Be Closed?

OOC thread split is fine, those are always way longer than IC threads.

Hmm. Cutting up OOC would be alright so long as the first post was always the rosters and all that razzle dazzle. Other places I used to RP in always cut OOC at 20 pages and started a new one. That'd work, but I think having a separate 'Application' thread for each game would be good too if that happened. It'd keep the apps nice and ordered at least.

Why not just remove the Wanted board and the spammy nonsense?

If it comes down to us being affected in any way (which is still a maybe at this point), I'll do whatever I can to preserve the IC threads in their entirety. OOC threads, like you guys said, are more than expendable. But even if I can't do that, it's not entirely the end of the world - we can set up a pre-determined length for every IC thread as a 'Volume One' and then bring up 'Volume Two' to immediately continue until we're done.

The IC threads would be nice to keep intact, but MB's idea to split them into Volumes/Chapters/Whateverthe****youwanttocallit works for me too.

Our host has determined that one of the things that is slowing down the SHH Boards at times is the big threads with hundreds of pages.

Firstly; is there an official thread for this discussion?

'Limit' the threads how? By data size or by page? Because the Admin says one thing, the Mod says another and I'd like to clarify it.

Does linked GIF's contribute to the load? Embedded youtube pages? (I asked Drak and he didn't know, so I'm just curious at this point).

Honestly, when we went through this with The TB, it was brought up about the general size being a huge load. (it was well over a thousand pages). Would it be more conducive to just delete certain threads that seem to have grown to big? Does having them on the server, albeit closed, still eat up space?


In actuality... very few of our IC threads have gone over a hundred pages.

Pretty much all of the Marvel RPG ones, and then two - three DC ones. (though, it should be noted the DC ones were less than the Marvel ones)

Practically ALL OOC threads are over a hundred.

By this I think we can surmise that the OOC threads can be stopped at a certain length. And that any IC thrad that happens to go over x limit can be closed and continued in another thread. Given the length of most RP seasons, I don't think we'll have latter issue very often.
