Big Trouble in Little China remake with The Rock

I'm surprised a studio wants to remake a movie that did so poorly at the box office.

It didn't do well at all, and instead became a cult classic.

I hate this. HATE IT. Never really cared this much about a studio remaking something before. It's a lightning in a bottle movie.

Has anyone read the comic? I haven't yet, but it's a sequel to movie. It's written by Eric Powell (The Goon) and Carpenter is involved as a story consultant.

Would anyone feel better if they cast Tilda Swinton as Lo Pan. :funny:

Well about time. I know I've been asking for this for ages. :o

oh please god no! big trouble in little china is a perfectly flawless movie. there is no reason....UGH!

Ordinarily this would be awful news, but post Rothman Fox are probably the most film maker friendly studio, the writers have a solid CV and Dwayne is easily the most charismatic action star working today. I'm pumped.

Byung-hun Lee for Wang Chi. Or Kris Wu.

I really like the Rock and love this movie. I'm hoping they do a decent job.

I can't think of one remake in the last 10 or so years that is good, or as good as the original. Hollywood stop, please stop!

Back in the day Hitchcock made a remake of The Man Who Knew to Much, and it was superior to the original. Back then remakes were far and in between. I know I said I can't think of any good remakes, I did not see those two film you mentioned! But that's not an answer to the argument of the sh** storm of all crappy remakes in past 10 years! I don't know, when I was a kid I heard Walt Disney say he didn't believe in sequels, because he believed in new ideas and to ignore those that said that he should do a sequel to a successful film. Call me old fashioned but that sounded like wisdom, and the words of a genius!

I disagree on sequels, but I'm not trying to defend the constant bad remakes. I'm just saying that there are actually good ones out there. I'd highly recommend checking out the True Grit remake, as you haven't seen it. :yay:

I almost saw it, the problem is I'm not a fan of westerns. You never know I might check it out someday, I do love Coen brothers movies.

Now that I think about it I actually do like some sequels and reboots, I like Batman Begins, The Empire Strikes Back, The Wrath of Khan and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The last two were made when sequels weren't so prevalent.

I really wanted to give the Star Wars Prequels a chance, and Superman Returns and the Man of Steel. Also the Pirate sequels are crap, and I'm not a fan of the last two Nolan Batman films. I wanted Tron Legacy to excel and it didn't. In all honesty all of the Spider Man films were poorly done. Only three of the Marvel films are of any worth. None of the Jurassic Park sequels were any good. The problem is that I've been looking for brilliance from all these worn out brands. Look at how dumb I am, I will be the first in line opening night to see The Force Awakens hopefully looking for that brilliance and that moment I felt when I saw Star Wars for the very first time as a child. I guess I can't get enough self inflicted abuse.
