Big Trouble in Little China remake with The Rock

Big Trouble in Little China is a classic to me. A masterpiece to my own eyes.

I rewatched this last night and all of the neon lights things still hold up. The scene with them walking up to the wedding ceremony is still beautiful. Kim Cattrall is just beautiful, man. Sweet lord.

I just watched the original and to be honest I have no idea how they're going to reboot this. The original had some good ideas and I loved Kim cattral but it's also very yellow peril.

I wonder if they'll try to make it super dark. Hopefully not although I would be intrigued by making it Asian/neon noir sort of thing

I came here expecting photoshops of The Rock as Burton. I am disappoint.:csad:

They could do more with the backstory of Lo Pan & The 3 Storms & make the overall movie more of an epic adventure.

i've always been intrigued by the character Egg Shen and would like to see a backstory for him.
you know Lo Pan is over 2000 years old, but from some of the dialogue Egg Shen says, he seems to be dropping hints he might be just as old as Lo Pan too. If he's not 2000 yrs old, Egg is at least probably waaaaay older than he looks.
It's gonna be very hard to find someone that can live up to Victor Wong's portrayal though!

I hope this is super cheesy.

Yeah, always wanted to see more 3 Storm stuff. Would be very interesting to learn how they became elemental masters.

The Rock could be awesome. But they have to play him as a bumbling oaf who was overshadowed by his "sidekick" like Russell's Burton was.

Saw this in the park today. Looks like they're getting ready to film something and Big Trouble in Little China was my first guess. But in reality I dont know what its for but I figure I'd post this here in case anyone has any info

It does look like the alley where the 3 spirits warriors fight Jack.

Edit : any word if it started filming or if the movie is officially a go ?

I smoked some stuff awhile back and made peace with this. I almost joined the GB haters in line. That was the turning point. This film won't change my love for the original. Now I can't wait to see what they do different and The Rock is always good to see on screen.

Now that Neil Blomkamp has a couple of years gap before his Alien film, I'd love to see him do this. He has a great John Carpenterish sense of humour and I think he and The Rock can have a great old school Carpenter/Russell or Cameron/Schwarzenegger run of films.

"you know what ol jack burton says at times like this?"
"who?"
"jack burton, me!"

:hehe:

Quill: [stalling] Hey, you know what? There's another name you might know me by! ...Star-Lord.
Korath: [confused] Who?
Quill: [disappointed] Star-Lord, man! The legendary outlaw? [Korath simply shrugs] Guys?

Oh god yes.

The Rock is everywhere right now!

This is one film that should remain untouched, Rock capacity to re-vitalise any film universe or not.

Big Trouble: Welcome to the Jungle.

Kurt Russell better return.

I can't get excited until I hear a director attached. Rock? Fine. Continuation? Fine. But Rock has to get a director that gets what made the original so much fun. Also, let's remember that as much as we love Jack from the first film... He's actually not all that effective as a hero. That's the joke. Will they play Dwayne in that manner? Also this needs to feature a who's who of the current crop of Asian martial arts talent in a big way. Other than that give me a story that picks up threads from the first film in some way but doesn't re-tread the plot. If they could at least get Capenter to have more than a name only Producer credit, say co-write the script, that would be a huge plus.

I take it that by 'continuation' they just mean sequel, right? If so its the best case scenario as far as I'm concerned as you just simply cannot remake this better than the original, yet I want to see more.
