The Dark Knight Biggest Disappointment

Well i dont think that it rotted. It mostly got smeared during his arrest. They producers were really hyping this stuff.

And what about the hype about Two-Face? We heard that they were shooting each scene twice and that they were going to do something innovative with his dual personality. IRL we got nothing of that. I dont mind the differences to the comics, but i do mind the false hype. Especially when said hype promises something revolutionary and interesting.

I remember reading about all the hype around Two-Face. I didn't see any of that either and I was wondering if it was just over my head or if they really didn't do that.

the fact that the Joker's make-up did not rot away all the way through like the filmmakers have said in interviews. Yeah... The Joker's make-up did wear off by the time we got to the interrogation scene... but once he got out, he re-applied it.

I think it would've been more sinister if his make-up continued to come off until the very end of the movie to the point where we see more of his face.

That interrogation scene still showed a sinister deterioration that they promised, I thought. For me it worked perfectly, since the Joker was probably the most honest about his motives in the interrogation room with Batman, where his makeup was the most speared off. Then when he escapes and visits the mob again, suddenly he's got his face back on.

It would be difficult to make the scarred side act more emotionally since most of the muscles were ripped off anyway. :oldrazz:

Really no allusion (except for what happens with Batman/Bruce) as to what's gonna happen in the future, or more importantly, WHO is gonna be in the future. I was kind of hoping for a Joker card moment like in BB. And then I was hoping that with all the freakin' actors that they had in the movie they would at least have a few cameos of other characters from the Batman mythos. That article that "Edward Nashton" turned in during the viral marketing really had me hoping for a cameo from him. And then it would've been cool just to see a couple of other cameos from whatever kind of other characters.

Oh well.... still the best Batman movie ever made imo.

Fox did drop that catwoman reference... but yeah I guess we have to wait and see this time around...

I never said that. But i think that since Nolan is making a comic book movie, some heroic poses of batman wouldnt hurt. In fact they are obligatory!

I remember some poses like that that were used for the BB DVD menu while Nolan cut them out of the movie. I mean....seriously now....
Batman listening to the phone conversations on top of the building, Batman standing in the debris of the building where Rachel died, Batman gliding through skyscrapers in Hong Kong... yeah, there totally weren't any iconic shots of him in this movie. :whatever:

I honestly think that was just an "inside joke" type thing. Something to make the fanboys/fangirls laugh. It really didn't mean anything, exactly, imo. BUT I SURE AS HELL HOPE IT DID MEAN SOMETHING! I'm dying to see Bale with his Catwoman. And Nolan will finally give us the version of Catwoman we really need and haven't seen. I honestly see his interpretation being more close to the BTAS version (as far as her personality). God knows what he would do with her look, but we all know it would be fu**ing awesome. Just as long as they don't give her the early interpretation of the fuzzy cathead mask or the purple costume, I'm extremely happy.

Ok, you kind of got me. But the first example (batman listening to conversations) isnt really well made. He is just standing there holding his head. He should have been standing like a gargoyle with the wind on his cape and with lots of skyscrapers around him. Gotham seemed like it only had on tall building on that shot.

I would add the shot of him crouching outside the Gordon's apartment when the cops tell Barbara about Jim's 'death' as a gargoyle-type shot. Also, Batman gliding to the tower with Joker in it, and the final shot on the pod, with his cape billwoing - iconic stuff to me.
Plenty of tall buildings in Gotham. Personally, I think one of the great achievements of this movie is that you never really noticed the city all that much - it's not like in Burtons and Schumachers films, with such fantastical design that you keep looking at the architecture and not paying attention to the story. To me, Gotham in TDK definitely feels like a real city.

If a well designed Gotham distracts you from the story, well, i hope for your sake they shoot the next film in the Nevada desert. Sheesh man!

Well, that might be inappropriate for a movie set in a city. And the Nevada desert is stunning.
What I mean is that this Gotham felt like a real, living city, not an artifical, albeit well-designed and beautiful set. I was watching Batman Forever teh other day, and did not get the same sense of the city as I did from TDK, even though Forever's Gotham is probably closer to what we think of as the comic-book Gotham.

Yes i suppose it is closer if you take all the neon out. Too bad TDK's Gotham was just a city.

My biggest disappointment was that one of my favourite shots of The Joker from the trailers was not included in the film. The bit when he walks towards batman and gets out his knife.

yea my biggest dissapointment was from that bit aswell, when hes shouting "hit me!!". the shot of him saying that in the first trailer was just so.....i dunno iconic and menacing, i really missed that part. in the film it just shows him from behind as hes shouting "hit me!!".

was the starbucks in the backround in the film? if not, that was a dissapointment.

Ummm...yes, Starbucks was in the movie. I'm not sure how you guys missed it.

What!?? BLASPHEMY!!

(heh juuuust kidding :yay:)

if you think that's bad just wait til u here why i waited til like its 4th week to see it.

see i wanted to see the hulk 1st, but it kinda left theaters around where i live to soon.:csad: i juz figured TIH needed my money more than TDK would. and that was b4 it had it's record opening.

...but outa the two movies, TDK is my thrd fave of all time and TIH doesn't even make top 10
