Bioshock Infinite

Hope Irrational doesn't shut down when it fails to sell some crazy amount of copies to justify that alleged cost.

Bioshock doesnt seem that huge a series to justify that big a budget. I hope it works out well for them

with the way Ken Levin has been talking about the AI of Elisabeth I guess the budget would have to be that huge. He'll be on tomorrow at pax they may even show him on the twitch tv links I put up.

I dunno, Take Two could probably take the hit if Bioshock manages to just break even. I don't think the game will tank, because there's a genuine sense of excitement with this game that was there with the first Bioshock.

And I guess, why not? It's the end of this generation and it's in a good position to succeed. Levine's interview with Giantbomb seemed spot on to me, that with the next generation...there's questions to be answered about how different developing and releasing games can be with the upcoming consoles. And it's coming out at a time where I can't see anything else worth playing in in the time before or after it for some time.

Starcraft II came out on the 12th, Gears came out on the 19th...the only game I see trying to go after it is Army of Two...which I think will do horribly, and then there's pretty much nothing for sometime after. Injustice comes out on the 16th of April, but I think there's enough space between time and the players who'll be into both types of games.

I dunno, looks like if reviews are good, and the word of mouth is anything like with the first Bioshock...could go well for them, and the money spent could have been worth it.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/bioshock-infinite-creative-director-denies-claims-game-cost-200-million-to-produce-and-market-6405761

[UPDATE]: BioShock Infinite creative director Ken Levine has tweeted, refuting the claims made by the New York Times report. "200 million for Infinite? Did someone send some checks to the wrong address?"

A spokesperson speaking on behalf of the game declined to provide GameSpot with an official statement clarifying the cost of development

So, Ken Levine refutes the claim that it cost $200 million to produce and market.

It's a bit of dodgy refutation when it's stated in the form of two questions that don't exactly hit the mark. But, whatever.

Booker Dewitt, a former member of the Pinkerton Detective Agency. Songbird, a flying mechanical menace. Columbia, a magnificent floating city in the clouds, first unveiled at the 1893 World’s Fair. These are just a few of the elements we’re looking forward to exploring in the upcoming Bioshock Infinite, but here at PC Gamer, we’re curious: if we strip away the fantastical, will we uncover some facts? For this Reality Check, we fed what we know about Bioshock Infinite into our patented Truth Grinder™ to see what came out the other side.

Well this is getting rave reviews. Watching Adam Sessler's review really was cool. And sounds like these guys figured out a great narrative/story unlike many games out there.

But from all the reviews, looks like this is a must buy. Got my CE pre-ordered for tonight.

They're saying this is the best game to come out since the first one in 2007. That it will make you think and question **** like the first game did, and that the ending is a mind screw.

Launch trailer.

Excited to ride them skylines. Wrangle with the Songbird. Take down them baddies in creative ways. Interact with Elizabeth. Uncover WTF is going on.

I managed to avoid big spoilers so far, but I've read they've been out there since the game leaked some time ago.

I'll be tagging everything outside of general gameplay and impressions once I get around to picking up the game.

Out tomorrow in the U.S. (don't know about anywhere else)!

You really should not spoil yourself with this one. The storyline is that intense they say.

I was unaware of the leak; but, thanks for the heads-up, as this is one of the few times in my life that I do not want to be spoiled (and that is in part due to the first game.) I am stuck on level 32 of the Fink Manufacturing minigame (and do not have the time or patience to finish it.) By the way, has anyone read the prequel e-book that came with pre-order? I have not read it yet, but was curious as to what others thought of it.

You know, I was sold once I saw that E3 Gameplay demo. I loved the first Bioshock, and once I watched the demo I knew I was in.

So, pretty much since then I've gone dark on the game until lately. The only trailer I think I've seen was one, just for the music. The "Beast of America" trailer has kind the latest video I've seen on this.

I downloaded the e-book, but haven't read it yet. I haven't even played the mini-game online, either. Been meaning to do both though. I've heard good thinks about the e-book, too.

Won't know how good it is until I play it. But there has been not one thing about this game so far that doesn't look incredible. I love BioShock. Is there a chance I end up loving Infinite more?

I just checked the Playstation Store. It will be available for download at 3AM Eastern time. I might go that route.....

This is getting GOTY type reviews so far.

96 average on metacritic from 9 reviews.

Yeah, this is either going to turn into a game for the ages, or one of those beautiful critics' darlings that sadly go by the wayside with the general public. I think there's enough hype that it'll be the former rather than the latter.

BioShock is one of my favorite, favorite games. Like it kind of changed my outlook on games.

I hope my expectations don't hurt it.

My order has shipped:

So did mine. :D

:highfive:

Played about 4 hours so far. I can't find the right words at the moment to describe how incredible this game is.

Elizabeth may be the first actual NPC that has literal A.I. It's like she learns **** along the way.
