Blade Runner 2049 - Part 1

^ Yeah, I pointed out the same thing when TFA came out and someone made a similar comment. I'd just rewatched The Fugitive and he was running the same way then.

You know what's awesome? Ford tore some ligament in his knee when they were filming his escape from the train wreck. Rather than take time off to get it fixed, he decided that Kimble should have the limp that he has the rest of the movie.

That, and his tearing the ligament in his OTHER knee when he kicks the German mechanic in the balls in 'Raiders'.

Dude is a ****ing legend.

^ Ha, I didn't know that, but I'm not surprised he's the "just keep shooting" type.

LOVING the use of the Vangelis BR score in that trailer I really hope they retain some of those themes by the film's new composer.

I'm really curios what the score will sound like. It needs to work within the DNA of the original while being its own. That's a tricky balance to crack, especially when Vangelis' score is so iconic and inextricably tied to the film. Actually, it's more than that. It IS the film. It does as much to create that world as Scott's camera and art direction.

In all honesty i'm kind of hoping the soundtrack is like a mix between the original score, and that of Drive/Only God Forgives/The Neon Demon. The crystal bachet is a great instrument if used right. And the K's Horse song that was previewed was made with that instrument and in some ways reminded me of something cliff martinez would do. Taking influence from those movies wouldn't hurt.

So far the trailers have used remixed/ or revamped recordings of the original theme. While this is nostalgic I am more in the mood to hear something brand new next time. Instead of trying to pluck nostalgia heartstrings. The synth crunch style from the announcement trailer was kind of eerie and foreboding..but I wouldn't be surprised if those sounds were sampled from somewhere else.

I saw Alien Covenant twice and the BR 2049 trailer did not accompany it. Very weird, as I thought it was a big point to have the trailer shown in theaters. I haven't seen any theater play it. Was kind of hoping to see it on the big screen...i'm sure it would have looked glorious.

So...how long until the next trailer? Lol

I'm thinking maybe later next month or august, I don't expect anything in June.

I saw Wonder Woman yesterday and today and got the teaser and the official trailer respectively. At two different movie theaters. So that was nice.

That sounds exactly like a Blade Runner movie - plodding and slow.

Probably too long though.

Anything nore than 165 minutes is probably excessive. It might get trimmed to 150 minutes before its released.

That's only the first cut. In testing do you very rarely get the final cut.

Oh and I'm here for the slow burn.

Since when Blade Runner is supposed to be fast-paced and action packed? You people.....

Probably, I mean i'm okay with it being as long as the final cut. I'm just afraid they might cut quieter moments that develop characters, and add something to the feel of the film. Like the quiet moments where Deckard is doing detective work sipping scotch...I liked those little moments and high detail of the first movie. For all we know this simply isn't a story that can be told effectively in less than a couple hours. If I hear anything about reshoots though, then i'll hit the panic button...don't worry..I won't rant about it..but internally my gut feeling will go sour. I don't want a popcorn movie, I want a rich experience I can come back to and be immersed in while watching.

It would be interesting to see if this movie got the same kind of response the original Blade Runner did when it was released.

To be honest, the second trailer really lowered my excitement.

Boose you don't like anything. So I'd be surprised if you actually did start to like something.

I like plenty of stuff, but the movie industry isn't delivering lately. This year is a disappointment outside a few smaller movies.

I'm not at all worried. Reading the full article it also states that all of Denis' films have been trimmed down and each of them got the same kind of response from test audiences.

Also Blade Runner is never going to be a full on action adventure film, nor should it be.

Blade Runner was not fast-paced in any way shape or form. It was very deliberately paced, which is exactly what I'm hoping for/expecting from this one.

Audiences are different now than in 82. More experienced in unconventional genre movies. At least, that's my assumption. There wasn't really anything quite like BR when it first came out, and its original release was compromised anyway. I don't think it's possible that this will get the same kind of reception. It's got the cult precedence behind it, if nothing else.

Action packed? No. But plodding and slow? Eh...
BR was always slow. I don't find it to be plodding (and I'm sure majority doesn't either), but some people do. They think it's a boring film. I'll never agree with this, but different people, different taste.

Anyone expecting some fast paced action fest is going to be disappointed.

Arrival was a slow paced movie
