John Lithgow Unveils Roger Ailes “Gold” For Movie Role – Sundance Studio

“It’s a film very much about the women,” said John Lithgow about Jay Roach’s highly anticipated untitled Roger Ailes movie.

“There’s so much talk about the very good signs that there’s so many great women’s stories being told. This might be one of the best because it really is about six or seven extremely different women who have extremely different experiences and response of the crisis at Fox,” said Lithgow who stopped by the Deadline-Hyundai studio.

Anyway, I don't know if I'll see this. All three of these actresses are great and sexual harassment against anyone is despicable regardless of their politics. That said, it's going to be very hard to empathize with a racist like Megyn Kelly and a full on white supremacist like Gretchen Carlsson, no matter how much they might attempt to humanize them in this movie. I'm guessing that's why Margot is playing a composite character; that way you can have a character unmarred by real history that the audience can root for. But that feels like cheating. Though it might be difficult to do, the reality is that while Ailes and Bill O'Reilly are sex offenders and deserve to have their names dragged through the mud, that doesn't make s***ty people like Carlson and Kelly heroes.

I feel the same way. They were sexually harassed which makes them sympathetic, but at the same time, they were spewing lies to the American public. It will be interesting to see what this movie focuses on. Based on the actress' political views, I can't see them signing up for a movie that just makes them look like innocent victims.

It looks interesting but I'm not sure I'm ready to empathize with Megyn Kelly in any way about sexual harassment. Especially after she let the disgusting Duggar family throw out false stats on incest and minimize sexual assault unchecked in her interview with them.

I'm so in for this. I don't think anything the movie says could sway my opinion of these people...
The cast is superb, I expect a bit of dark humor from Roach and dam, give Charlizes make up artist an award or something, that is some spot on craziness.

Yeah I didn’t even realize that was Charlize at first. Nicole doesn’t look as much like Carlson but as long as she can ooze racist energy and fascism, she should do well.

EDIT: I just realized I got Carlson mixed up with Laura Ingraham. Ingraham is the one who is a total white supremacist and Trump cultist. Carlson has probably said and done racist crap over the years too (I think every Fox anchor has) but to my knowledge she hasn’t crossed over into Ingraham territory.
