Boondock II: All Saints Day..hell yes!

Just because I don't like it? No, that's not why it's destined to fail. It will fail because there is little interest among the general public. I mean, hell, this tread was started almost 5 years ago and here we are on page 3?
Yeah, this movie is going to be a big one :whatever:

And I just love the tightwads on this site call you a "troll" whenever you have an opinion that isn't in sync with theirs. You know, you can just not think something is a good idea, and it doesn't make you a troll for sharing your opinion. This isn't the "Boondock Saints Appreciation thread", so If I decided to express my feeling on the movie, and the feeling is a negative one, I will do so. Go be annoying somewhere else.

:whatever:

1) when you come into a thread and make a negative comment like "this movie is destined to fail" like its God's truth with no real reason to back it up, yeah, you're kinda being a troll.

2) Yes, you actually give a good point about BS2 having a small fan base say, in comparison to Iron Man 2, and because of that, it might be safe to assume that it won't break records on its opening day. There is "little interest" because the general public (btw how do you know if the general public is interested or not? do you swarm the streets taking a poll?) doesn't know about the original film, and only those who are aware and/or fans are even aware that this sequel is coming out (until promos start). But that doesn't mean it will "fail". If the fans love it and it is enjoyable to those not familiar with the first one, then it has succeeded, regardless of how much money it rakes it. So, if you are the kind of person that only cares about numbers, good for you. Go be an accountant.

I did give a real reason. Boondocks Saints was an okay movie, Without Dafoes performance it wouldn't have been as good as it was, theirfore, a sequle without Dafoe will fail. This is a movie that doesn't even need a sequle to begin with.

It's not even about the numbers that the film will pull in. It's about the lack of actual talent involved in this project. I was excited to heard Marley Shelton would be in this, then I heard Julie Benz got the part. Pass. I like the first movie enough to think a sequel is not the best idea. Still don't see how having a difference of opinion makes me a troll but I guess I am just supposed to keep my opinions to myself if they don't match up with the 2 of you? No kiddo, that's not how this works. Put an egg in your shoe and beat it. :o

Nivek, you put people on ignore when you realize they are right and it gets under your skin, because you don't have the ability to properly prove your point. It's okay Nivek, I know your deal. Rather than admit you are wrong, you walk away.

I did give a real reason.

Only after I asked you to do so.

MOST movies don't "need" a sequel, however that doesn't mean it is automatically a bad idea to make one. And if you think Dafoe was the only good thing about the movie, cool. That is YOUR opinion, its not a fact. The movies are about the brothers and their attempts a justice, not laughing at Dafoe's effeminate personality.

It's not even about the numbers that the film will pull in. It's about the lack of actual talent involved in this project. I was excited to heard Marley Shelton would be in this, then I heard Julie Benz got the part. Pass.

Lack of actual talent? Ahem.

Peter Fonda: Nominated twice for an Academy Award. Has over 10 other wins for Golden Globes and others.

Judd Nelson: Golden Globe Winner

Sean Patrick Flanery: He played "Powder" and Young Indy. Nuff said.

Billy Connolly: has 6 best actor/best comedic performance nominations under his belt.

Norman Reedus: Won a Best Actor award for his performance in Floating.

These aren't soap opera stars.

I like the first movie enough to think a sequel is not the best idea. Still don't see how having a difference of opinion makes me a troll but I guess I am just supposed to keep my opinions to myself if they don't match up with the 2 of you?

Are you dumb? Or just looking for a fight? No one cares WHAT your opinion is. You wanna come into a thread supporting a movie and stand tall and say "HEY! I don't like this movie. Here's why...." thats cool. You are being a contributing member to a conversation. But when you come here and say "THIS MOVIE WILL SUCK!" in so many words and then run away, forcing people to either ignore you or request reasoning, that makes you look like you are doing nothing more than trying to rock the boat. IE: trolling.

No kiddo, that's not how this works.

Oh snap! You called me kiddo! That must mean you are older and wiser than I! What ever will I do?! :whatever:

Put an egg in your shoe and beat it. :o

Well, why would I do something like that? I mean, come on, that egg and shoe would be USELESS. ...Much like this conversation.

Advice, just put him on ignore, and move the conversation along, don't waste time trying to prove a point.

Anyway, got this from Normans my space, a link to an interview with the cast, talking about some plot points...

Boondock saints 2 Comic-con coverage from Fused Film

Meh, its a lazy sunday afternoon. :)

Great link, though.

If you think Sean Patrick Flannery and Judd Nelson have an ounce of talent between the two of them, then there is no sense in even talking to you anymore.

All I said was this movie would fail. You asked why I thought that and I explained my reasoning. If you couldn't handle an opinion that was obviously different than yours, then why did you A) ask for it and B) cry like a little b*** when I gave it?

BTW, You DID ask for my opinion, might wanna go back and re-read where this all started and you will find you were the one who engaged me and started probing me for my opinion after I made a simple statement. I am sorry it wasn't the opinon you wanted :(

Hahahahahaha. Nice way to ease out of commenting on the other actors, or any of my other comments, for that matter. The two you've mentioned have been nominated and even won awards, so apparently their peers think they have at least some amount of talent....but sure, go ahead; i'm perfectly fine with you using that as an excuse to run away. Have fun. :)

but anyway, back on topic....

Apparently Styx have recorded a brand new song just for the flick.

WUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh my god, thats fantastic. How dense are you, man? (Though, I didn't ask WHAT your opinion was, I asked WHY you came to that opinion). I even MENTIONED having to ask you why you felt that way in the very post you are quoting.

WUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

*wipes tear from eye*

Thanks man, you're the best. Really. Class act. Give yourself a hand.

The motion comic mentioned earlier seems alright, nothing really indicative of what we will see in the next film.

Agreed. At the very least, the artwork looks good. Maybe its meant to be a bridge between the two movies?

I think so, but I guess there is not much Vigilante Justice going on in an Irish Sheep Farm.

Ha. Well, I'd like to think that they didn't immediately jump the pond and start raising sheep after snuffing out Yakevetti (sp?) The last scene in the movie has Il Duce asking the boys if they're prepared to take it as far as need be, so it'd seem weird to immediatly go into hiding after asking their intentions of continuing. ...unless of course, sheep herding is a really brutal trade....

I imagine that they continued for a while, hell, they were probably gunned after by other gangs trying to stop them from killing everyone. On top of that you got the cops after them; I'd think its fair to say that they attempted to continue for a while, but it ended up getting to hot, so then they left. But, who knows. We'll find out, huh?

I like Sean Patrick Flannery! He was Powder for ****s sake!!!! Plus Norman Reedus (sp) is an amazing underrated actor as well

LOL. Dafoe's performance was so hilariously awful that it may trump even Nic Cage's Wicker Man job. Without him hamming it up, this film has nothing to offer other than exhausted 90's indie hitman cliches and badly staged action.

I really liked Dafoe's performance. I loved how over the top it was. You know an actor is good when they can do a scene like "there was a fire fiiiiiiiight!" and you enjoy it despite "hamming it up" as you put it. Case in point: the over acting mob boss was cringe worthy at times. You just can't beat Dafoe.

I took much of the action to be poking fun at the action genre; over the top and purely done to "look cool" is what most action movies are about, and this movie does it with a **** eating grin, but in an original, understated (IE: no car chases, CGI, etc) way. And I think showing the AFTERMATH FIRST was an incredibly awesome way to tell the tale. Only movie I've ever seen do that was Memento. The comedy is great, as well ("Is it DEAD?!?") and I really dug most of the music and how it was used (the scene where Rocco walks into the bar and kills the mob guys is one of my favs).

The fact that this sequel got made is enough of a success, IMO. Even as someone who loves the first film, I had almost zero faith in Duffy getting this new movie past the script phase after seeing Overnight. I found myself hating the guy, and having little sympathy for what happened over the course of making the first film. What was so crazy was the fact that it seemed like the film was never meant to see the light of day in the first place. It just seemed like something the Weinsteins bought and had every intention of keeping on the shelf, especially with Duffy's attitude being what it was. He just seemed completely devoid of humility. How long does anyone wanna deal with someone like that?

From what I seen of Overnight and the type of individuals I have seen working in the industry, Duffy is an a-hole, but he is just another bird in the flock. He just melted down before he got anywhere.
