My gf thought it looked lame and not her kind of comedy from the previews as well - I took her to it and she enjoyed it a lot...laughing from start to end.

But he should also know better...it's just a movie. Why stay in character? I don't even understand why he's in character for interviews on talk shows.

Beacause that's part of keeping the image of the character more real. It's something a lot of comedians with characters do in the UK, I guess you American's don't understand that kind of European humour.

Best stick to Benny Hill and Monty Python if you prefer British comedy that's 30 years old and counting.

And he made New Yorkers look violent, the south look bigotted and college student look drunk. They aren't all like that, but enough are that it is funny.

I love New Yorkers and I've yet to meet a violent person there, but I'm afraid I've met tons of bigotted Southerners since I moved to this part of the States so I don't think Cohen had to search very long to find some.

Of course there are always going to be some exceptions to the rule and I know they're out there which does warm the cockles of my cold heart.

Andy Kaufman was a genius and probably the first comedian to live his character in this way.
