Borderlands 2

For me, games like Sleeping Dogs and Dishonoured are potential fun new games to fill the void in waiting between the big titles but I'm not really excited about them. It's hard to get as excited about a game with no precedent as it is to get for a game like Darksiders 2 or Borderlands 2 but hey, Borderlands 1 and Darksiders 1 once filled that same void for me a few years ago too so I'm not gonna dismiss them completely :P

Yeah, I want to play Sleeping Dogs too, it's just not a priority. It seems way more GTA than Shenmue to me though.

I understand. it wasn't supposed to be full on shenmue game though. There just deep elements in the game play that will remind you of it. But it's "it's own thing." But it's also best to go with what you already have as a priority. and you save more money that way.

  • Borderlands 2 Mechromancer poised to ship ahead of schedule

The Mechromancer, a fifth playable class free in pre-orders of Borderlands 2, was initially announced to launch at least 60 days after the full game drops on September 18. Gearbox, apparently, is ahead of schedule.

"We're going to beat that estimate," producer Randy Varnell tells Joystiq at Gamescom. He is unable to specify a new release window for the new character, but he is confident the team can complete its build faster than previously thought. Gearbox finished Borderlands 2 and sent it off to certification in July, which is when it began focusing on the Mechromancer herself.

Borderlands 2 bundled with GeForce GTX 660 Ti, Nvidia's cheapest Kepler card yet

Borderlands 2 (Nvidia PhysX

Borderlands 2 will accompany Nvidia's latest graphics card, the GeForce GTX 660 Ti, as a PhysX-enabled freebie in the US and Europe. The bundle should be shipping to stores today in multiple SKUs, and the included code will enable a free download of the game when it's released on September 18 (September 21 in Europe). Prices may vary between Nvidia's manufacturing partners, but the GTX 660 Ti is meant to hover around $300 – a hundred bucks below the more powerful GTX 670.

The GTX 660 Ti shoots for a sweet(er) spot between affordability and Nvidia's Kepler architecture, which has been praised for its brutish performance and energy efficiency. The company claims the 660 Ti trumps ATi's $350 Radeon HD 7950, and outperforms the GeForce GTX 560 Ti by 41 percent. It runs at a base speed of 915 MHz (boosting up to 980 MHz), carries 2GB of GDDR5 RAM and probably emits a mighty fine whirr.

Kepler also makes a case for TXAA (Temporal Approximate Anti-Aliasing), a rendering technique that examines visual output and then attempts to predict and compensate for jagged edges in upcoming frames. According to Nvidia, TXAA is superior when it comes to producing anti-aliasing for scenes in motion. The first game to make use of TXAA is Funcom's new flagship MMO, The Secret World.

Nvidia didn't announce TXAA support for Borderlands 2, but did peg the cel-shaded shooter's maxed-settings performance on the 660 Ti at an average of 78 frames per second, on a high-end rig and a resolution of 1080p. The video above highlights the physics-driven flair added by PhysX, though not nearly as well as the insightful quote from Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, which we've taken verbatim from the press materials: "you can get some crazy awesome physics simulations."

Borderlands 2 has gone gold

Borderlands 2 is done and dusted according to a tweet from Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford. “Borderlands 2 is now GOLD” he exclaims. Now they just have to print the discs and train an army of puppies to nudge them gently into thousands of plastic boxes. That’ll take about a month it seems, as Borderlands 2 is due out on September 18. If only we had invented a better way of putting the discs in the boxes, but no CEO alive can bring themselves to approve a redundancy package for 10,000 puppies.

I can't wait for the new Borderlands. I highly doubt it will be a more improved sequel than Darksiders 2 was over its predecessor but we shall see. I might be pleasantly surprised.

New video

Man I am so excited for this!

Plus an hour long gameplay demo w. Gunzerker and Zero

2 weeks to go. Is everyone pumped? Which character is everyone going to start with and why?

At this stage, I'm going Gunzerker. He looks like a good, fun, entry level character where I can muck around with many different weapons and just run and gun. Second playthrough, I'm thinking Zero since he looks more like a specialty character.

I'll probably be going with Zero. Mostly because he's very different to how I played the first game, and also because his whole "sword attacks power up guns and vice versa" thing seems kind of cool.

Mechromancer is the class that I'm really interested in, and I wish it was available at launch. I'm glad it's coming much sooner than expected though.

How do you reckon you'll play him? I love the idea of his melee combo skill, where every kill with sword in melee mode will start a new duplicate immediately. That seems awesome.

I don't know, I'll have to play around with it. I haven't been paying super close attention to what the skill trees look like or anything like that.

You should watch that video I posted a few posts up, there's a lot of Zero gameplay in there with Randy Pitchford narrating. They go over the skill tree's in some detail.

With Axton you get twin turrets.(skill tree wise) but I'm sticking Ninja my self. so much Ican do hehe I do miss playing Roland though. but time I went another Role.
